IEEE: A Talk by Prof. Dipankar Nagchoudhuri
The IEEE CAS-CS Delhi Section organized “A Talk by Prof. Dipankar Nagchoudhuri” at IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi on20th February 2015. Five students Himanshi Lamba (15036), Lakshay Gupta(15052), Shubham Chhabra(16150), Sahil Bali(16140) and Piyush Pandey (16112) from Computer Science Engineering Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the lecture.
Prof. Dipankar Nagchoudhuri is from DA-IICT. Previously, he was at IIT Delhi for about thirty years, and a professor since1982. He has also been a visiting faculty to university Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, a visiting professor at Siemens, Munich, and at Instituto Nacional de Astrofisica, Optica y Electronica, Mexico.
During his talk, the speaker explained that microelectronics education is a collaborative, multidisciplinary activity, involving the combined efforts of system architects, circuit designers, device engineers, software developers, and process engineers. He also discussed that the Research in Computer Aided Design works toward developing new algorithms and design methodologies that allow the VLSI designers to design correct, faster, smaller and more power-efficient integrated circuits and applications of such research abound in current industrial practice. He also discussed about the development of Microelectronics in India in 19th century, which was related to different types of Integrated Circuits. Then Prof. Dipankartalked about the electronic age, the computer age and the information age.
The speaker also discussed various characteristics and social impact of micro technology and explained that development in micro technology has led to the globalization of technology. He said that it has created environment awareness in people and has even led to urbanization, marking tremendous changes in India.
It was a wonderful experience as there were a lot of new things to learn by Prof. Dipankar Nagchoudhuri. He also shared the common platform with different researchers and scientists of the country. The session was very interactive as there was a special question hour at the end of session where one could clear all his/her doubts.
