INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO INSTITUTE OF TELECOM TECHNOLOGY AND
MANAGEMENT (ITTM),
MTNL, PANDAV NAGAR, DELHI
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised an Industrial visit to ITTM, Delhi on 9 & 10 February 2015 . Two faculty members on each day (Mrs. Sanghamitra V. Arora, Mr. Nishant Kumar, Dr. (Mrs.) Poonam Kaushik and Mr. Harimohan Rai) accompanied seventy students of IV semester for the visits.
ITTM is a state of the art training centre of MTNL, Delhi engaged in imparting induction training and short duration courses to its officers and employees in the field of Telecom, IT, Computer systems and Management. ITTM has the necessary infrastructure, technical and academic competence and excellence for providing such specialized courses in the field of GSM, Broadband Technology, Switching, Transmission, External Plant, IT, Computer systems and Management. ITTM has well equipped GSM, Transmission, IP Networking and broadband labs. The field exposure at MTNL is unique since no other Company can match the infrastructure of MTNL.
Students were conducted by Mr. Hari Om Arora (SDE – Training). He gave a brief introduction to Switching Technology, Protective Devices, Transmission basics, Optical fibre systems (SDH & FTTH), Data Communication IP networks & Broadband concepts, Technology & service aspects, GSM, CDMA & 3G Overview. He also talked about Communication skills, Stress Management & Time Management.
Some of the equipments displayed in the labs were demonstrated to the students and described in detail. The labs visited by the students were:
1. Transmission Lab
2. IP Networking Lab
3. GSM Lab
4. Broadband Lab
5. Switching Lab
This visit proved very useful and it will help the students in deciding their future course of action as they are required to undergo six weeks summer practical training as well as six months industrial training during their course.
