Launch of Wadhwani Centre of Excellence for Entrepreneurship
With a vision to accelerate and scale the creation of entrepreneur & support community entrepreneurs, Wadhwani Centre of Excellence was launched at BIMTECH, Greater Noida Campus on 7th February 2015. Mr. Amar Saraswat, Assistant Professor, Computer Science & Engineering Department, represented Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon in the event.
The Wadhwani Centre of Excellence was established to assist various institutions in creating and implementing entrepreneurship capacity building programs. It is aimed to create an ecosystem and to offer support and mentoring to Ventures including alumni and early stage start-ups. The various support and services which are to be offered includes empowering start-ups with knowledge and solution, working as the link between industry and entrepreneurs, helping to create and grow successful ventures, imparting extensive knowledge building, mentoring, and networking through various programs.
The event started by welcoming Mr. Ajay Goel, VP, Wadhwani Foundations by Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, followed by presentation by Dr. Abha Rishi, Chairperson, Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development (CIED). Dr. Abha discussed about linkage between industries and R&D Institutions, developing ecosystem, Junior World Entrepreneurship Forum 2014, Inclusion of entrepreneurship as the part of curriculum, building ecosystems such as flipkart.
The Advisory board members of Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development, Mr. Tim Mathews, MD, Flair Capital, Mr. Sanket Sinha, Vice President, Asia Capital, Mr. Gopal Mondal, Director Finance, IDFC Foundation, Ms. Prity Khastgir, Tech Corp Legal, pledged their support to the new initiative through mentoring, funding and access to knowledge bank.
Mr. Ajay Goel gave brief introduction of Wadhwani foundation and said that true entrepreneurship can really be initiated through institution campuses. He also discussed about Start-up Network, SME Network, Mentor Level Network, Investor Network and Academy Network which includes Knowledge Hub, Business Model, Marketing and Branding. He said that the current need is to nurture the potential of young entrepreneurs. Mr. Goel said that the Wadhwani Centre of Excellence will surely accelerate creation of entrepreneurs from a large pool of budding entrepreneurs from engineering and business schools as well as small and growing businesses.
Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi said that the centre aims to empower job seekers with ideas, passion and entrepreneurial skills with knowledge and experience of its network to become job creators as they sow the seeds of successful businesses and a series of programs would be designed and delivered by the Centre to build knowledge, provide mentoring and open up networking opportunities. Dr. Chaturvedi also said that this centre will also serve as a link between industry, successful entrepreneurs and the mentees.
At the end, an Entrepreneurial Festival “Udhyami” to pilot innovative idea based business ventures to help imbibe real life entrepreneurial experience and to provide an opportunity to learn and test basics of entrepreneurship, was inaugurated byMr. Ajay Goel.
