Techno Debate Competition (TDC)

IMechE Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized the inter college Techno-Debate Competition on 7th October 2017. Mr. Piyush Sethi and Mr. Anshul Verma, YMP, IMechE were the chief guest of the event.
The event started with honoring the chief guest and a welcome lecture by Mr. Anil Kumar Gillawat, Head of Department, Mechanical Engineering. Later the chief guest addressed the participants and the committee members.
The guest lecture started with the introduction to the Automation in the industry. Automation is the most common word in the industry mainly focused on the minimization of error and maximum production within the limited frame of time. The guest lecture comprises of the introduction to relays, contactors and plc’s. A relay works similar to the switch and have an on /off condition termed as n.c. /n.o. in the relays. Keeping in mind the safer operation of the relays, they are limited up to a desired operating voltage only. Thus the drawback is overcome by using the contactor having no n.c. condition.
Next students were introduced to the plc and the operating procedure including the programming of the plc’s. After the guest lecture session was over the participants were asked to gather for the debate competition.
The theme of the debate was mainly emphasized on the topic like electric cars vs. conventional i.c. cars, reservation in the exams, nuclear energy etc. The team must have two members and each member was given with time limit for three minutes to present his views either in favor or against the topic. The session helped participants as well the students to have a real scenario of the world. There were participants from the other universities and colleges. At the end of the heated but interesting debate which lasted over two hours and succeeded by the prize distribution ceremony where the winners were awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 5,000/-, Rs. 3,000/- and Rs. 2,000/- to 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners respectively and merit certificates. The event was over all an interactive and motivating event.
