FIVE DAY SHORT TERM COURSE ON "WIRELESS & MOBILE
COMMUNICATION THROUGH ICT"IN COLLABORATION WITH
NITTTR, CHANDIGARH
30th October - 3rd November 2017
Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon in collaboration with NITTTR, Chandigarh conducted a five - day short term course on "Wireless & Mobile Communication through ICT” under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT) from 30th October to 3rd November 2017. 21 Faculty members from ECE, CSE, IT & CSIT Departments of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the short term course.
Day1: 30th October 2017
The inauguration was held in presence of Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Mehra, Head, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, NITTTR Chandigarh. Thirty institutes from all over India participated in the short term course. Prof.(Dr.) Rajesh Mehra initiated the short term course by stating “When wireless is perfectly applied whole Earth will be converted in to a huge brain”. Then he highlighted the importance of mobile communication in present scenario and focused on the fact that whether it is office, hospital, shopping mall, roads or just the home, what is one thing that always accompanies us? Our mobile phone! The mobile phones are everywhere and with anyone!
Ms. Garima Saini, Course Coordinator "Wireless & Mobile Communication Through ICT", NITTTR Chandigarh elaborated the evolution of Mobile communication step by step. Also She explained evolution of cellular network, multiple access problem, multiple access scheme (FDMA,TDMA & CDMA). Next session was preceded by Ms. Saini. The topic of discussion was 2G Air Interface, 2G & 3G architecture.
Day 2 : 31st October 2017
Mr. Kapil Bhutani, Director, Telcocrats Technologies Mohali addressed the centers with a brief of 3G Air Interface & its concepts. The GSM evolution to 3G, UMTS, UMTS Network architecture, UTRAN,3G RF Planning & Demonstration were topics of the discussion. Session was preceded by Ms. Garima Saini, Course Coordinator "Wireless & Mobile Communication Through ICT", NITTTR Chandigarh. In her discussion Ms. Saini elaborately discussed on SIM & AT Commands, WCDMA, HSPA.
Day 3: 1st November 2017
Er Mr. Kapil Bhutani, Director, Telcocrats Technologies Mohali discussed the concept of 4G RF fundamentals & Demonstration,4G Handoff Strategies. He also discussed 4G LTE, Advantages of LTE, LTE speed, LTE architecture, LTE Vs UMTS. Next session was headed by Dr. Rakesh Kumar , NITTTR Chandigarh. VANET and its Research issues were thoroughly discussed.
Day 4: 2nd November 2017
Dr. Brijesh Kumbhani , IIT Ropar discussed the concept of MIMO system for 4G & 5G. Next session was headed by Mr. Sudesh Chopra, NITTTR Chandigarh. Security Issues in WLAN was thoroughly discussed in the session.
Day 5 : 3rd November 2017
Mr. Sudesh Chopra, Director of Telecommunication, Mohali explained in brief EM radiations from mobiles Myths & facts, moreover about 5G & beyond.
The valediction session was chaired by Prof.(Dr.) Rajesh Mehra, Head, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, NITTTR Chandigarh & Ms. Garima Saini , Course Coordinator "Wireless & Mobile Communication Through ICT", NITTTR Chandigarh. Attendees and Chief Guests at all the remote centers shared their experience of the workshop ,congratulated and thanked NITTTR for having conducted such a useful workshop. Dr. B. M. K. Prasad, Principal, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon thanked and congratulated all the dignitaries from NITTTR and participants from all centers and expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guests. The workshop was concluded by Ms. Garima Saini with her valedictory speech.
