College to Corporate Program Soft Skills & Workplace Communication

The fourth Face to Face Interaction of the IIT, Bombay Professors with the students using A-View was held at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon on 28th October 2017. 123 final year students from different engineering domains along with faculty coordinators attended the program.
The main aim of the program was to prepare engineering students for the transition from informal campus environment to a formal corporate environment.
IIT Bombay has designed a series of short courses under the 'College to Corporate' program. It consists of two short courses- Soft Skills and Workplace Communication.
In the first session on Soft Skills, Mr. Ravi Kodukula discussed the qualities of a good leader and how society can benefit from it. He told the techniques which can enhance leadership skills and make us a winner in the long run. He further explained the importance of time management and how using time preciously acts as a boon for the students.
In the second session on Workplace Communication, Prof. Rajesh Zele emphasized on the necessity of being professional. He marked it as the stepping stone to join multinationals. He told entering the corporate field provides a range of new challenges, all of which call for graduates to display great professionalism without any stigma attached to it. The session was concluded by Prof. D Parthasarathy sharing his thoughts and handling the queries of the students.
The sessions on ‘Soft Skills’ gave participants the insight on how to appear for their group discussions and interviews while the sessions on ‘Workplace Communication’ briefed participants the professional communication and conduct.
