RENDEZVOUS 2017 – “AUTOMOBILE ENGINE MACHANICS AND IC ENGINE”
                14TH OCTOBER, 2017

Two students Jagrit Gakhar( ME - 20329) and Pradumn Kumar Tiwari ( ME - 20339 ) of Dronacharya College of Engineering , Gurgaon attended the workshop RENDEZVOUS 2017 – “AUTOMOBILE ENGINE MACHANICS AND IC ENGINE WORKSHOP” organized by IIT Delhi on 14th October 2017.
The main objective of the workshop was to provide the opportunity to the students to study the basic designing and working of an internal combustion engine, assembling and disassembling of internal combustion engine.
The workshop mainly focuses from Basics to Advanced concepts in Automobile Engineering. It covers chassis design, working of Suspension unit, Steering System, Braking unit, Transmission, Fuel Supply System, IC Engine and Advanced Technologies like ABS, EBD, PGMFi, DTS-Fi, MPFI, VVTI.
The workshop started with the basics of internal combustion engine with the information about automobiles and their applications. Then the study of components and different technicalities about an internal combustion engine started. The session also included the description of the two stroke and four stroke both petrol and diesel internal combustion engine. Next new technologies like five stroke and six stroke engine were also explained.
The faculty also gave ideas about minor and major projects which will help student’s knowledge to reach unexpected heights.
In the practical session of the workshop students learnt assembling and disassembling of an internal combustion engine and how to start the assembled engine. In the practical part of workshop, the RENDEZVOUS had an internal combustion engine of HONDA bike with following specification: Vertical shape engine design, 125cc, Petrol fuel based, 2 valves per cylinder, 4 geared transmissions, 10 bhp power and 11 Nm torque.
Students in groups were called to perform the practical. First the technicians disassembled the engine and explained the every part of engine in detail. Then they allowed the students to assemble the engine under their supervision. After a complete cycle of assembling and disassembling the engine, they started the engine.
At the end of the workshop, a small questioning session was organized to analyze the best outcome of the workshop from the students. The students were provided the certificates and interactive material with all the useful information about the internal combustion engine.

The workshop helped the students to successfully analyze an engine system. The theoretical and practical sessions sharpened their knowledge on the working of an internal combustion engine and provided the opportunity for students to work on a real engine system.
