AUTOKRITI 9.0 - "AUDI A4 V6 and MERCEDES Engine Overhaul Workshop"
6th – 8th October 2017
Four students Ankush Arora (ME- 20310), Ashish Sharma (ME- 20314), Deepanshu Yadav (ME- 20323) and Rohan Yadav (ME- 20344) of First year Mechanical Engineering branch of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the workshop AUTOKRITI 9.0-"AUDI A4 V6 and MERCEDES Engine Overhaul Workshop" organized by SAEINDIA NIT Kurukshetra, Collegiate Club on 6th -8th October 2017.
AUTOKRITI 9.0 is a National Level Automotive Overhaul Workshop. It was a unique workshop which is held annually where the students were briefed to disassemble, study and assemble car components with their own hands. The students were also provided with interactive study material as animations & information booklets, to help them retain what they learnt during the workshop. With eight seasons already completed, Autokriti today has expanded both in length and breadth, and it has reached to a level equivalent to the Annual National festivals of NIT Kurukshetra, with over a thousand participants from all over the country.
6th October 2017 –
On the first day of the workshop participants went to the activity room where they met several students of different institutes. Participants saw different types of equipment which are required in emergency for repairing vehicles and many tool kits and different engines of various companies such as AUDI A4 V6, MERCEDES ML 320 and HONDA etc.
First session of the day began with components of HONDA CITY and their working principles. Participants were told about its efficiency, use and also about the manufacturing of each and every part. In the second session participants studied the construction and working of manual transmission, i.e., manual gears and the clutch system. They told participants the types of clutches and how they are used in a vehicle practically. Third session started with the discussion of ‘automatic transmission’, i.e., automatic gears. Participants were showed the original gear box of AUDI and explained it’s working. The fourth session was about the engine of MERCEDES ML320. In this session participants learnt construction and working of MERCEDES engine. The parts used in this engine were almost same as that of HONDA. The last session of the day was discussion on the engine of AUDI A4 V6 and participants learnt the same things about it.
7th October 2017-
The next day participants had a theory class regarding what they had learnt in the previous class. A similar procedure was followed on the next day. First session of the day was on the brakes system. Participants learnt construction and working of a machine called brake tester (drum brake). Next session was on the steering wheel and its components. The coordinator explained the components of the engine by showing many charts and a machine called automotive steering. He also told participants about the mechanism of Formula 1,i.e., F1 on the real F1 car made by the students of NIT. The last session participants learnt the suspension, how it is utilized in any vehicle, its importance in the steering.
8th October 2017-
On the third and the last day of the workshop, participants had a lectures on all the things they had learnt in these 3 days’ workshop. The speakers shared their experiences with the participants. They told participants the latest gadgets that are being used and what all machines are going to be launched in future to make tasks easy. At last, participants had a talk session with them. Participants received certificates an hour later of the session.
It was an experience which no book can teach and no lab can ever replicate. It was a wonderful experience and very useful .Students have learnt many components of a vehicle and had some hands-on experience for the first time.
