Game Development Workshop
12th October, 2017
20 students of Computer Science & Information Technology Department from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the workshop on “Game Development” organised by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at Jamia Hamdard University, Delhi on 12th October 2017.
The objective of the workshop was to teach the young engineering aspirants the Game Development criterion and advantages.
Making games is a technical and creative art form. The speakers told participants the practical implementation of games with a view to educate mankind and it’s real world usage.
Game development is the process of creating a video game. The effort is undertaken by a game developer, which may range from a single person to an international team strewn across the globe. Traditional commercial PC and console games are normally funded by a publisher, and can take several years to reach completion. Indie games can take less time and can be produced at a lower cost by individuals and smaller developers. The independent game industry has seen a substantial rise in recent years with the growth of new online distribution systems, such as Steam and Uplay, as well as the mobile game market, such as for Android and iOS devices.
Games are produced through the software development process. Games are developed as a creative outlet and to generate profit. Development is normally funded by a publisher. Well-made games bring profit more readily. However, it is important to estimate a game's financial requirements, such as development costs of individual features. Failing to provide clear implications of game's expectations may result in exceeding allocated budget. In fact, the majority of commercial games do not produce profit. Most developers cannot afford changing development schedule and require estimating their capabilities with available resources before production.
The trainer also had a query session with the students to clear all their conceptual doubts. He also helped us in creating games and provided us the trainer kits to build the same.
It proved to be an interactive and informative workshop for all the participants.
