Visit to Kiki Centre for Technology
On 4th March 2017, Mrs. Poonam Yadav (Assistant Professor, IT Dept.) along with 25 students fromof Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon visited the KIKI CENTRE FOR TECHNOLOGY, IMT Manesar, Gurgaon. The visit was organized under DCE CSI Student Chapter with the motive to give the students a glimpse and understanding of PLC programming and modelling used in the industry.
The Centre was established with the support of the World Bank reflows programme, the German Chamber of skilled crafts, Koblenz, Germany and Indian Industry. It is established under Anjali foundation (through the brand name of Kiki Centre for Technology) that focuses on developing skills with the support of German experts. It focuses on imparting high quality skill development based on the industry needs. The centre has industrial machinery, equipment and simulation laboratories.
The visit commenced with a presentation by Ms. Shikha (HR Dept., Kiki Centre for Technology). She briefed the students about KIKI Centre and the programmes offered by them. She made the students aware regarding the current needs of industry and role of electronics and mechatronics engineers in industries. Mr. Kamal (Expert, Kiki Centre for Technology) demonstrated the models with PLC programming, CNC machinery, use of servo motors in robotics and Pneumatic & Hydraulic controller based mini projects. He briefly explained about the advanced courses such as tool making, mechatronics and precision machinist in which the students can be skilled as per the international standards. The centre provides training in three major courses: CNC, VMC and tool room machines. Mr. Lokesh (Expert, Kiki Centre for Technology) explained about CNC is Computer Numeric Control machine that deals with Metrology Essentials, Engineering Drawing Essentials and Tooling and Work holding devices. He also briefed the students about CAD/CAM machine which deals with canned cycles programming, inspection and dimension control of work piece and essentials of soft skills. Mr. Arun (Expert, Kiki Centre for Technology) defines about Tool Room Machines that it is an advance machine programming course which deals with tool path generation, maintenance of CNC machines, EDM, wire EDM and 5S Soft Skills. He also described about VMC that it is a Vertical Milling Centre machine which is a type of motion control system where spindle runs in a vertical axis.
The session provided the students with hands on training on the models of industrial equipment?s like PLC programming, gears, motors, conveyer belts and engine mechanisms.
It was very educative experience for the students. The visit helped them to learn about the present industry scenario and its demands. The session was very knowledgeable and the students got the opportunity to see live demonstrations of different simulations. The experts from the industry motivated the students to learn and enhance their technical skills.
