Industrial visit to Central Board of Irrigation and Power Gurugram

IEEE DCEG STUDENT Branch organized an industrial visit to Central board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP), Gurugram on 6th March,2017 which was conducted by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering . Forty-one students from ECE, Civil and ME Department attended the visit along with faculty member Dr. Deepika Yadav (Associate Professor of EEE Department).
Central Board of Irrigation & Power was set up by the Government of India for monitoring of Irrigation of our country in 1927. It is now committed towards the development of Irrigation, Power & Renewable energy sectors of the country through its Human Resources development. It is a premier institution and has been rendering dedicated services to the professional organizations, engineers and individuals in the country and abroad for the last 85 years. The main objective of CBIP is to disseminate technical knowledge through various modes e.g., organizing training programs, conferences, seminars etc. and publication of journals, manuals, technical reports, guidelines, research reports.
CBIP has a strong team of senior training officers, having in depth knowledge of conducting various long term training programs related to Power sector and were among the team of main initiators for launching the Post Graduate Diploma Course and Post Diploma Certificate programs in Thermal/T&D/GIS and B-Tech (Power) in the country.
The team was welcomed by CBIP, Advisor, Mr S. K. Ghosh. He provided brief introduction to students about CBIP, Gurgaon followed by Lecture session on thermal power plant, transmission & distribution and Solar Power Plant. The second half of the session was based on introduction to various Labs of power system equipment’s, Solar power plant lab and thermal Laboratory.
The visit was interesting and really informative for all the students as they were acknowledged about the various sustainable sources and their use in the technology.
