Paper Presentation at International Conference
On
Emerging Trends in Engineering, Technology, Science and Management
12th April 2017
Electronics & Computer Engineering Department students of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon presented paper in the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering, Technology, Science and Management organized at IIMT, Noida on 12th April 2017.
Neha Yadav (16770), Sonia Rana (16774), Nitesh Rawat(16771) and Bhuvesh Yadav(16778) presented a paper titled “Automatic Energy Meter Reading System” under the guidance of Ms. Parul Bansal (Assistant Professor, ECS).
Jyoti (16767) and Sonu Yadav(16775) presented a paper titled “Induction of radio communication in Indian Railways for smooth running in fog condition” under the guidance of Ms. Parul Bansal (Assistant Professor, ECS).
The objective of the conference was to bring together people from science as well as management studies and provide a platform for budding researchers to present their work. The conference emphasized on harnessing eco-friendly technologies and proper utilization of technology in order to achieve universal goal of sustainable development. The conference covered all branches of Engineering, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environment, Mathematics, etc.) & Management. Scholars and academicians from different fields such as Electrical, Mechanical and Management attended the conference and presented their papers on latest technologies.
In the paper, Automatic Energy Meter Reading System students presented about Remote Monitoring and Control of the Domestic Energy Meter. This system enables the Electricity Department to read the meter readings regularly without the person visiting each house. This can be achieved by the use of microcontroller unit that continuously monitors and records the energy meter readings in its permanent (non-volatile) memory location. This system also makes use of a GSM modem for remote monitoring and control of energy meter. The microcontroller based system continuously records the readings and the live meter reading can be sent to the electricity department on request. This system also can be used to disconnect the power supply to the house in case of non-payment of electricity bills. A dedicated GSM modem with SIM card is required for each energy meter.
In the paper Induction of radio communication in Indian Railways for smooth running in fog condition students presented about the problems and their potential solution faced by Indian railways due to low visibility. Railways effect a major part of Indian human lives as well as it has a great effect on Indian Economy too. The concept of cab signalling was discussed and also how it will impact the Indian economy as well as convince of passengers.
The conference was a good learning experience for students and all the presentations were well appreciated by the jury.
