CII - Global Exhibition On Services
India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida
17th - 20th April, 2017
Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized the 3rd Edition of Global Exhibition On Services (GES) 2017during 17th - 20th April 2017, at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida. The focus of GES was on sectors like IT and Telecom, Tourism & Hospitality, Education, Healthcare, Logistics, Environmental Services etc. GES 2017 provided an ideal platform for showcasing services to Indian and global counterparts.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee, The Hon’ble President of India inaugurated the exhibition as the Chief Guest.
Dronacharya College of Engineering exhibited the following projects that were fabricated and designed by students.
- IoT based healthcare system
- Digital Bank Locker System
- Mist Exhibit
- AndroAqua
- Blind can see, deaf can hear and dumb can speak
Amit Saini (16763), Akansha Marwah (16762), Jyoti (16767) and Shweta Saini (16773) from VIII Semester Electronics and Computer Engineering Department exhibited their project Internet of things based Healthcare System. This project aims to provide Health care services for people of all age groups .The health care services are hard to be provided to elder people daily because they cannot visit the doctors frequently and now a days, many elder people live away from their children which poses the need for a device that can monitor their health at all times.
Nishant Kumar (17096) and Lokesh Pandey (17074) from VI SEM Computer Science Engineering Departmentexhibited their project Digital Bank Locker System. This project aims to develop a smart logic to identify the Person in Bank or Locker Facility. To employ this technology in use one unique identification code was issued to every locker holder. The three main steps included in the project were child lock, master lock, and OTP.
Aarif Zaidi (17509), Deepak Aggarwal (17522), Ayush Pujari (17517) and Kishan Panwar (17536) of VI Sem IT displayed their project Mist Exhibit. The main objective of the system is to display free space, full color high resolution video or still images. The Project intends to work as a free-space screen when connected to a PC by a USB cable. A PC sees the floating displays a projection device, like a screen. with the help of projector the images or videos on the screen were displayed .
Himanshu Joshi (17529), Sourav Singh (17563) Manik Wadhwa (17539) and Nitesh Pandey (17543) of VI Sem ITdisplayed their project AndroAqua This project offers a “smart aquarium” and tends to reduce water pollution .This project has two major aspects first is that it provides an aquarium which has never been seen before and second and the most important is helping in making our rivers and ponds clean as they used to be before by reducing water pollution.
Yatin Maheshwari (17567), Arushi Dogra (17516) and Rishabh Singh Rana (17554) of VI Sem IT exhibited their project Blind can see, Deaf can hear and Dumb can speak. The aim of the project was to solve day to day problem that disabled people face. Blind people are dependent on others for visual feedback where else deaf and dumb people face problem in communicating their thoughts. To solve the problem faced by blind, deaf and dumb people the project has been divided into three modules and later integrated them in form of a waist belt.
Students of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon displayed their projects during the exhibition.
Underscoring the growing importance of services in the Indian economy, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry said that at a time when there has been a decline in global export of services trade between 2014 and 2015, India has witnessed a quantum jump in services export. According to the Hon’ble Minister, the quality of our services has been exemplary, our excellence being driven by knowledge and professional acumen. Citing the example of the state of the art technology developed by ISRO, she said that this is being used not only for transforming our economy but also for lending a helping hand to other nations. Apart from Space technology, India has signed MOUs with foreign countries in healthcare, railway services, among others for sharing of our expertise.
Addressing the gathering, Smt. Rita Teotia, Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India maintained that the GES has evolved over the years not only in terms of participation but also by way of the extent of services.
Dr. Naushad Forbes, President, CII, during his address stated that services have emerged as an engine of growth for the Indian economy as it contributed two - thirds of our GVA, half of our employment and a fifth of our exports. Dr Forbes identified three priority areas viz tourism, healthcare and education which he felt had the potential to grow manifolds and were important for promoting inclusive growth in the country.
Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII said that GES has grown in stature over the years and has opened up tremendous opportunities for business. Over 21 states and 73 countries are participating in the event with 550 exhibitors, 100 more than last time.
Mr. Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Minister of Industry, Govt. of Rajasthan; Shri Satyadev Pachauri, Hob’ble Minister for MSME, Export Promotion, Textiles, Khadi and Sericulture, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh; and Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Hon’ble Minister for Transport, Commerce & Industry, Parliamentary Affairs, Skill, Employment, Government of Assam also spoke on the occasion.
Shri Anup Wadhawan, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industry made the closing remarks.
The projects displayed by the students from Dronacharya College of Engineering drew huge crowd not only from India but also from foreign countries. Students had very fruitful interaction with the visitors and even had meaningful suggestions from industry stalwarts on how to make their projects economically and socially viable.
The four days’ event ended on 20th April 2017. India's demographics coupled with its strong push for skill development can impart it global leadership in services exports, said Smt. Rita Teaotia, Commerce Secretary, at the close of the Global Exhibition on Services (GES).
Mr. Anup Wadhawan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, noted that GES is growing from strength to strength with increasing domestic and international stakeholders.
Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, observed that the 3rd edition of GES had 573 exhibitors, with 400 overseas visitors from 74 countries. Further, 24 Indian states participated in GES bringing international and domestic buyers of services to interact with State Governments and enter into MoUs.
Mr. Pandey announced the 4th GES 2018, to be held on the 17th - 20th April 2018 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
