IDEA 2017 was organized at G D Goenka University Business Incubator on 7th April, 2017. Seventeen students Priyanka Kunjwal (17105), Priyanka Mogha (17106), Minakshi (17081), Samiksha (17126), Viditi (17169), Sakshi Sangwan (17124), Shubhi Sarin(17145), Tarun Bhandari (17161), Saurabh Kumar(17129), Akansha(18010), Atul(18031), Leetasha (17073), Kapish (17063), Shruti Jain(17135), Shivani Sharma (17133), Pallavi Bhan (17097), and Ritika (17117) from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon took part in the competition.
IDEA 2017 was for creative, cutting-edge ideas driven by conscientious and dedicated students.The objective of the event was to enhance the confidence and marketing skills of students.It gave them a platform to earn profit and aimed at honing communication, presentation, marketing and managerial skills of student and also giving them a true feel of being an entrepreneur.
The Elevator Pitch Competition was an exciting and interactive pitch competition that was a part of the IDEA 2017 organised by G D Goenka University, Gurgaon. The objective of the competition was to pitch the business in a stall, convince the expert judges of its value, and impress the crowd, in order to win cash prizes, internship opportunity at start-ups and mentorship from best of the academic and industry experts.
Another event that held was the Display Stall in which students had to showcase their talent by putting up a stall and selling the goods and services on the spot. The categories included mobile apps,wearable,social innovations,gaming interactive, food and beverages,apparels, fashion and other design initiatives to name a few.An elevator pitch basically verbally outlines an entrepreneurial concept or idea in a short period of time.
It is typically three minutes in duration, which is symbolic of the amount of time one would have on an elevator ride to capture the attention of a potential investor in the concept. A successful elevator pitch requires significant prior thought and research, and culminates in the ability to clearly and succinctly highlight the most compelling aspects of a proposed venture.There were many categories like Social Welfare, Technology and Services, Food and Designing, Health etc. Students of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon actively participated in these categories according to their ideas. They were given a time period of 5 minutes where they had 3 minutes to present their idea and 2 minutes for the cross questioning session. Also, they had to make their stalls presentable using posters, banners, flex or prototypes and models.
Sakshi Sangwan (17124),Shubhi Sarin(17145) and Tarun Bhandari (17161) from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering were awarded for the Best Idea in Food and Design category. Each of them received a trophy and certificate along with cash prize of Rs.5000/-.
