CHANDIGARH
24th - 28th April 2017
Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon in collaboration with NITTTR, Chandigarhconducted a five - day short term course on “Artificial Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic” under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT) from 24th April to 28th April 2017. Twenty - two faculty members from CSE, IT and ECE Department attended the STC.
On 24th April 2017, the inauguration was held in presence of Prof. (Dr.) Maitreyee Dutta, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh. Seventeen institutes from all over India participated in the short term course. Prof. (Dr.) Maitreyee Dutta initiated the short term course by stating “There is no reason and no way that a human mind can keep up with an artificial intelligence machine by 2035.” Then she highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence and Neural Network in present scenario and focused on the concept of Artificial Neural Network and its application in pattern recognition, classification and optimization & knowledge of Fuzzy Logic and its applications.
During the inaugural address, Dr. Maitreyee Dutta discussed the concepts of neural networks, Characteristics of Neural Networks, Historical Perspective, and Applications of Neural Networks.
Post lunch session Dr. Dutta also focused light on the topics such as the biological prototype, Neuron concept, Single layer Neural Networks, Multi - Layer Neural Networks, terminology, Notation and representation of Neural Networks, Training of Artificial Neural Networks. Representation of perceptron and issues, perceptron learning and training.
On 25th April 2017, Dr. Dutta started the session with Back propagation: Concept, Applications, and Back Propagation Training Algorithms. Counter Propagation was hot topic of the day. Kohonan Network, Grossberg Layer & Training, applications of counter propagation, Image classification was also discussed by the expert during the session.
Post lunch session was dedicated to MATLAB Programming for Neural Network. The session was really interactive as participants get chance to do hands on programming in MATLAB platform.
On 26th April 2017, Dr. Renu Vig, Director UIET, Chandigarh discussed the concept of Associative Memory and its applications. Bi-directional Associative Memories: Structure, retrieving a stored association, encoding associations, memory capacity was key topic covered by Dr. Renu. Remaining session was preceded by Dr. H.K Sardana, Chief Scientist, CSIO, Chandigarh. Dr. H.K Sardana focused light on Research examples of Neural Network.
Post lunch session was headed by Mrs. Shano Solanki, NITTTR Chandigarh. Fuzzy Logic and Applications was thoroughly discussed in the post lunch session.
