Visit to CSIR-NPL

Students of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram were invited by CSIR-NPL for its foundation day celebration on 4th January 2023. 70 students along with two faculty members Dr. J R Ansari and Mrs. Monika Thakur went to attend the celebration.
The day started with lamp lightening and welcoming of chief guest Dr. Satheesh Reddy, (Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO, distinguished scientist, missiles & aerospace), Dr. N. Kalaiselvi (Director General, CSIR and Secretary DSIR) and other dignitaries from different areas of specialization.
CSIR-NPL is the national institute of India and is one of the leading research laboratories in the country. It is the apex institute which disseminates traceable measurements for various SI units such as length, mass, time, voltage, current, etc. across the country and also to SAARC nations.
After inauguration ceremony, DCE students visited the different research labs. Scientists explained the working of advanced equipment’s and research activities in their respective labs. They visually demonstrated the research work in progress and explained about the historical development and facilities available in NPL. DCE students actively participated in the discussion with scientists.
Visit to CSIR was informative, interesting as students gained experience of how the research activities are executed. They also understood how the theoretical knowledge is realized in actual practice to make useful devices for the benefit of society.
