Visit to "National Youth Festival"
At Hubbali, Dharwad, Karnataka

NSS unit of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized a visit to “National Youth Festival- Hubbali, Dharwad, Karnataka” from 12th - 16th January, 2023. Two NSS student volunteers Pooja (3rd year, CSE - Roll No. - 23115) and Hitesh Kumar (3rd year, CSE - Roll No. - 23063) along with NSS Program Officer attended the 5-day “National Youth Festival” organized and sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India, NSS Regional Centre, Karnataka.
The programme has been organized on National Youth Day, which is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, to honour and cherish his ideals, teachings and contributions. The theme of the festival was ‘Viksit Yuva - Viksit Bharat’. It aimed to propagate the concept of national integration, spirit of communal harmony, brotherhood, courage and adventure amongst the youth by exhibiting their cultural prowess at a common platform. During the entire event, messages regarding ban on use of Single use plastic was circulated everywhere.
There were 23 NSS volunteers from different Colleges of Haryana to represent the State. These include: Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon (representative college of M.D. University, Rohtak) CDLU Sirsa, GJUS&T, Hisar, CBLU Bhiwani, Ch. Rambir Singh University Jind, Central University of Haryana,CBLU Bhiwani, I.G. University, Meerpur Rewari,BPSMVV, Sonepat and CCSHAU, Hisar.
Day 1
Inaugurating the camp, Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi stated the importance of physical and mental fitness for NSS Volunteers and motivated all by his influential speech. All NSS volunteers were welcomed and encouraged to participate in such camps in order to develop a sense of brotherhood, spirit of communal harmony and courage.
Day 2
On day 2 all the volunteers practice Yoga followed by flag hoisting and pledge taking ceremony. Next chief NSS Officer motivated all the participants and gave valuable insight into how the youth in today’s world can lead a fulfilling life by following Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts.
Day 3
On Day 3, exhibitions of traditional sports like Kalaripayatu (Kerala), Silambam (Tamil Nadu), Gatka (Punjab), Mallakhamb (Maharashtra) Kalaripayatu (Kerala), Silambam (Tamil Nadu), Gatka (Punjab), Mallakhamb (Maharashtra) were there.
Day 4
Day 4 started with Yogathon for 2 hours which aimed at mobilizing the general masses of Karnataka followed by a march-past. Youths from various States performed traditional art forms. During the day, martial arts and native sports were also presented by national level performers.
Day 5
After following the same routine on Day 5, several competitive and non-competitive events were held. Competitive events included performances on folk dances and songs. Other attractions of the day included Food festival, Young Artist Camp, Adventure Sports activities, know your Army, Navy and Air force camps.
The five-day festival witnessed the Youth Summit, which had plenary discussions on five themes stemming from G20 and Y20 events such as Future of Work, Industry, Innovation and 21st Century Skills; Climate change and disaster risk reduction; Peace building and Reconciliation; Shared future-youth in democracy and governance; and Health & Well-being. Over sixty eminent experts participated in the festival.
All the participants received certificate of participation and were appreciated for their efforts.
