National Integration Camp
At GSSS, Raipur Maidan District Una, H.P.
6th - 12th January 2023
NSS student volunteers Prachi Singh(CSE- 3rd Year, Roll No.-23121) and Tinku Kataria (CSE - 3rd Year, Roll No. - 23185) from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram along with NSS Program Officer Mr. Darshan Seju attended one week “National Integration Camp” organized and sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, NSS Regional Centre, H.P from 6th – 12th January, 2023 at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Raipur, H.P.
The objective of the camp was to infuse the sense of love towards the various regions of India and to undertake adventurous activities.
There were NSS volunteers from different Colleges of Haryana to represent the State. These include: Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon (representative college of M.D. University, Rohtak) CDLU Sirsa, GJUS&T, Hisar, CBLU Bhiwani, Ch. Rambir Singh University Jind, Central University of Haryana,CBLU Bhiwani, I.G. University, Meerpur Rewari, BPSMVV, Sonepat and CCSHAU, Hisar.
Day 1
The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Nardev Sing Rana (Principal, GSSS Raipur, Himachal Pradesh) with flag hoisting. He stated the importance of physical and mental fitness for NSS Volunteers. He also shared his amazing life experiences which motivated volunteers to a great extent. Afterwards a plantation drive in the Vatika was taken up with the soil of participating states.
Day 2
Second day started with morning exercise. Then everyone went for a rally on National Integration and also took pledge on “Ek Bharat Sreshth Bharat.” There were academic sessions taken by guests invited on day 2 in the morning as well as in the evening.
Day 3
On third day, after following the same routine of exercise and prayers by everyone, all NSS volunteers went to see nearby areas like Sada Shiv Temple, Kangra Fort, Bhaksu Nag and Tibetian Temple and international cricket stadium Dharamshala which is the highest functional stadium in Asia. Volunteers enjoyed a lot there and returned back to GSSS.
Day 4
Fourth day started with morning exercise followed by activities like folk dance and group dance. Competition on Nationalism was also taken up. DCE NSS volunteers had also participated in a skit awakening the audience for saying no to drugs. During evening hours, all attended an academic session.
Day 5
On fifth day, the day started with Morning Prayer and parade. There were cultural activities of dance, matka and spoon race competition. During evening hours, academic sessions were taken by the guests.
Day 6
On the sixth day all volunteers went in the nearby localities for awakening the people about India’s rich and varied cultures and traditions. Then all went to see great view of Govind Sagar Lake.
In the evening, there was interaction among the volunteers of different states about the customs and traditions in their states. Volunteers had fun and enjoyment by doing singing and dancing around bon fire.
Day 7
Closing ceremony was held on the seventh day of the camp. Haryana team won 3 prizes: 1st position in solo dance, 2nd in Hindi story writing and 3rd in photography competition. Prachi Singh contributed in the photography competition by writing the content and describing the content of the picture. Everyone was awarded with medal and certificates. As a gift of remembrance, volunteers were gifted with beautiful Himachali Cap.
Everyone got the opportunity to know about 16 different cultures of India. There were 16 states involved in this camp and it felt like mini India at the camp. It was a great experience for all the participants during the tenure of the camp.
