"Engineering Synergy with Simulation for OEMs and Suppliers”

Mr. Anil Kumar Gillawat, HOD and Mr. Manish Kumar Mishra, Asst. Professor Mechanical Engineering Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended TOPTECH seminar on "Engineering Synergy with Simulation for OEMs and Suppliers” conducted by SAE NIS in association with Altair on 18th September 2017 at Hotel ATRIO, New Delhi.
The seminar started with the welcome address of Pavan Kumar, Managing Director, Altair with an introduction to Altair and extensive use of 3D Printing. The keynote address was given by Mr. Alok Jaitley, Senior Speaker, Maruti Suzuki India Pvt. Ltd. He discussed SAE India and SAEINDIA NIS. He also explained the responsibilities of SAE India towards society and different project competitions organized by SAE India. He explained the procedure followed for electrification of vehicles. He also talked on the Design and Development of Baleno car. He focused on Design optimization for resources for maximum benefit.
Jeremy Lebon, ESG (Enterprise Solutions Group), Leader, France, Altair Product Design discussed the multi-Disciplinary System Driver simulation for e-mobility design. He also showed some equations for electrical design and interesting results for Design and Optimization.
Case Studies on Wiper design and Brakes were presented by Sanjay Yadav, Altair team for Altair's vision of simulation/optimization driven design to improve QCT metrics compress design / development cycle time, reduce waste in design / dev process reduce development cost deliver first time right performance (balanced design).
Last presentation was by Srikanth on how Tier 1 supplier has migrated from "Build to Print" to "Design & Build". He discussed on the requirement of shifting from simply manufacturing to design and manufacturing. Valedictory Address was delivered by Mr. Deepak Panda, GM (CAE & Physical Testing), MSIL.
The seminar was very informative, which was ended with interaction between the participants.
