Google Buzz

GDG, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a workshop “Google Buzz” on 26th September 2017. 56 students from 2nd year along with 5 organizing team members participated in the event.
The objective of the event was to introduce students to Google Developer Groups (GDG) and GDG Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon and to give them a platform to explore the opportunity of being a team member.
Google Developer Group Dronacharya College of Engineering, a sub-chapter of GDG New Delhi, provides a place where programmers and learners hangout to learn and impart knowledge about various Google technologies.
The event commenced with an opening address by Ms. Parul Bansal, Mentor - GDG Dronacharya College of Engineering where she motivated the students and focused on the importance of learning new technologies to keep up with the fast changing world. She also gave a glimpse of the events conducted in the past by GDG Dronacharya. Mr. Anshul Patro, Organizer -GDG Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon connected with the students through Google Hangouts and he gave a brief introduction on the activities of Google Developer Group. He also asserted the fact GDG DCE, Gurgaon provides a platform to students for upgrading their coding skills.
The first session of the event covered the aspects of Google products and the sessions were taken by the GDG Team members. The session rolled out covering Google Inbox taken by Siddharth Chopra (Technology Lead, GDG Dronacharya & Student-ECE). He explained, Inbox is an email product developed by Google in 2015 and it was developed learning from Gmail with a motto to increase the efficiency and productivity of Gmail and provide a new way to deal with emails. Google inbox helps you to avoid the cluttering of mails and organizing them well. It is a cross platform product which work equally well on desktop, android and IOS. The features of Google Inbox involve setting reminder, snoozing messages, pinning messages and many more.
In the next session on Google Scholar by Anirudh Makkar (Technology Lead, GDG Dronacharya & Student-ECE) the participants were introduced to its various features. Google Scholar is a freely accessible web search engine that indexes the full text of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines. Released in beta in November 2004, Google Scholar index includes most peer-reviewed online journals of Europe and America's largest scholarly publishers, plus scholarly books and other non-peer reviewed journals. The session was delivered through interactive animated videos.
A Quiz on “Google Products Logos” where the participants had to identify the logos of various products by Google was taken and goodies were gifted to the top two participants: Aayush Sharma (III Sem CSE) and Vineet (III Sem ECE).
The team received good response and online feedback form for the event was shared with them where positive feedback has been given by the participants.
