Swachhta Diwas 2025
2nd October 2025
NSS Units of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, celebrated Swachhta Diwas on 2nd October 2025 to commemorate the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Marked by enthusiasm and patriotic spirit, the event highlighted Gandhiji’s ideals of cleanliness and social responsibility. NSS volunteers under the guidance of Dr. Anupam Dalal and Dr. Ashok Kumar (NSS Programme Officer) organized a Swachhta Drive in and around the nearby localities of Farrukhnagar, cleaning public areas, collecting waste, and spreading awareness about hygiene and reducing plastic use. Their active participation encouraged community members to adopt cleanliness as a daily habit, upholding the values of Gandhiji’s vision and the NSS motto, “Not Me But You.”
The celebration began with a morning assembly, where volunteers and faculty members paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his invaluable contributions to India’s independence and his dream of a clean, self-reliant nation. Faculty coordinators addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness as a civic duty and the need to contribute actively to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Following the assembly, NSS volunteers organized a Swachhta Rally around the college and nearby areas. The rally showcased impactful slogans and placards such as “Clean India, Green India” and “Swachhta Hi Seva Hai.” The initiative attracted the attention of local residents, who praised the students’ efforts and joined them in spreading awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and waste management.
After the rally, Cleanliness Drive was carried out both within the campus and surrounding localities. Volunteers cleaned classrooms, gardens, and corridors, collected plastic and other waste, and ensured proper disposal. They also planted saplings to promote environmental conservation and interacted with shopkeepers and residents, encouraging them to maintain cleanliness and reduce the use of plastic.
The event concluded with a pledge ceremony where students and faculty members vowed to follow Gandhiji’s principles and take personal responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.
Swachhta Diwas 2025 celebration truly reflected the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” inspiring everyone to work together toward building a cleaner, greener, and healthier India.
