QEEE Session on "Routing Algorithms - Networking"
16th, 17th February & 10th March 2017
QEEE session on " Routing Protocols: Computer Network" was organized by IIT, Madras underD2S (Direct to Student) Program at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon through ICTon 16th, 17th February & 10th March 2017.The session was conducted by Prof. Niloy Ganguly, IIT Kharagpur. The session was attended by 89 students of Department of Computer Science and Engineering under the guidance of Faculty Coordinator Mr. Hansraj Yadav, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Day 1 : 16th February 2017
The first session was held on 16th Feb 2017. It started with a basic of Networking. Prof. Niloy explained basic of networking related to layers OSI model and different type of protocols. He further explained the Implementation of Connectionless Service, Comparison of Virtual - Circuit and Datagram Subnets. He further explained Types of Routing Algorithms. After a detailed description of the Types of Routing Algorithms  practical implementation of networking devices like router, switch was explained.
The session further included the practical implementation of The Optimality Principle, Shortest Path Algorithm, Flooding, Distance Vector Routing, Distance Vector Routing (2), Link State Routing, Learning about the Neighbors, Setting Link Costs, Building Link State Packets, Distributing the Link State Packets.
Day 2 : 17th February 2017
The second session was a two hour session held on 17th Feb 2017 where Prof.Niloy Ganguly covered the topics related to Routing Algorithms. The schedule of the session included : Hierarchical Routing , Broadcast Routing, Multidimensional Routing, Spanning Tree, Reverse Path Forwarding, Broadcast: Reverse Path Forwarding, Multicast Routing, Anycast Routing, Routing for Mobile Hosts, Routing in Ad Hoc Networks, Route Discovery, Internetwork Routing. A Students got a detailed knowledge about the different type of . It was full of examples and problems with solutions where the students got the opportunity to learn a lot. Session ended with the question and answer session.
Day 3 : 17th March 2017
The second session was a two hour session held on 17 th March 2017 where Prof. Niloy Ganguly covered the topics : OSPF - An Interior Gateway, BGP - The Exterior Gateway, Address Moving in CIDR. Â He also explained the Basics of Chord Technology. In end of the third session where Professor concluded the course.
Sessions were practical and students actively took part and solve them. After theses three sessions the students got assignments and quiz which were to be completed under the guidance of Mr. Hansraj Yadav.
