One Day Workshop on "Virtual Labs"
28th March 2025
Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, as the Nodal Center of Virtual Labs for IIT Delhi, organized a one-day workshop on “Virtual Labs” in collaboration with IIT Delhi on 28th March 2025. The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), aims to enhance practical learning in the fields of Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Applied Sciences.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Dimple Saproo (HoD, ECE & EEE Departments) and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 100 students and faculty members of the Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering departments.
The sessions were conducted by Mr.Shani Kumar and Mr.Jassi Prasad, Senior Field Engineers, Virtual Labs, IIT Delhi. Mr. Kumar initiated the workshop with an overview of the objectives, features, and applications of Virtual Labs, emphasizing how the platform facilitates remote access to laboratory experiments and enables resource sharing beyond geographical constraints. Participants also learned about the integration of audio-visual simulations and real-time experiment triggering to enhance interactivity.
Students then engaged in hands-on practice sessions in two computer labs, performing experiments across domains such as Electronics, Electrical Measurements, Power Electronics, Sensors and Automation, Chemistry, and Computer Programming using the Virtual Lab portal (www.vlab.co.in).
The workshop provided participants with valuable experiential exposure, enabling them to strengthen their conceptual understanding through digital experimentation. The session concluded on a positive note, with students and faculty members appreciating the initiative for promoting innovation and interactive learning in technical education.
