IEEE Region 10 Conference Quality Workshop (CQW) 2025

Ms. Tamanna Sehgal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at Dronacharya College of Engineering, had an opportunity to attend the IEEE Region 10 Conference Quality Workshop (CQW) 2025in a hybrid mode on 7th November 2025. The workshop was organized by the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the IEEE Chandigarh Sub-Section and IEEE Region 10.
The main objective of this workshop was to create awareness about IEEE conference standards, quality assurance procedures, ethical considerations, and operational guidelines involved in organizing IEEE conferences.
The workshop began with an inaugural ceremony, followed by an inspiring keynote address by Prof. Prerna Gaur, Chair, IEEE India Council & Director, NSUT (West Campus), New Delhi. Prof. Gaur highlighted the importance of academic integrity, maintaining high-quality standards in IEEE conferences, and fostering collaboration among researchers to strengthen the global IEEE community.
The first technical session, chaired by Mr. Narinder Singh Jassal, Senior Principal Scientist and Head, BDG, CSIO, Chandigarh, and co-chaired by Dr. Mala Kalra, focused on the fundamentals of IEEE conference organization. Dr. Y. P. Verma, Vice-Chair, IEEE Chandigarh Sub-Section, discussed the scope and objectives of IEEE conferences and their role in global research dissemination, while Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Chair-Elect, IEEE India Council (2025), explained the application and approval process for hosting IEEE conferences. Prof. Subrata Mukhopadhyay, Adjunct Professor, NSUT, shared insights on operational guidelines and compliance with IEEE standards.
The second technical session, chaired by Mrs. Deepa Bajpai, General Manager, BEL Panchkula, and co-chaired by Dr. Garima Saini, highlighted the technical, ethical, and financial aspects of IEEE conference management. Dr. Deepak Mathur, IEEE MGA Board Member and 2024 IEEE Vice President, MGA, outlined the responsibilities of sponsoring units and organizers in maintaining quality. Dr. Sameer S. M., Professor, NIT Calicut, emphasized the importance of a rigorous peer-review process and addressed issues like non-presented papers. Dr. Amit Kumar stressed transparency and accountability in conference operations, while Prof. Arun Kumar Singh, Chair, IEEE Chandigarh Sub-Section, discussed publication workflows and indexing standards. Dr. Simranjit Singh concluded the session with valuable insights into sponsorship management and financial planning for sustainable conference organization. Apanel discussion on “Challenges in Organizing IEEE Conferences” was moderated by Prof. S. S. Gill and featured eminent panelists including Dr. Deepak Mathur, Dr. D. Das, Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Dr. Y. P. Verma, and Dr. Simranjit Singh. The discussion addressed practical challenges, best practices, and emerging trends in organizing IEEE conferences.
The workshop concluded with a feedback session and closing remarks, summarizing the day’s proceedings and emphasizing the continuous need for maintaining quality and ethics in IEEE conferences. Overall, the IEEE Region 10 Conference Quality Workshop 2025 proved to be an enriching and insightful experience for Ms. Tamanna Sehgal. It successfully bridged the gap between theoretical understanding and practical implementation, contributing to her professional growth and understanding of IEEE’s commitment to excellence.
