Visit to SKH Metals Limited

The ISTE Student Chapter of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized an industrial visit to the SKH Metals Limited, Manesar, Gurgaon on 23 October 2015. Faculty coordinator Mrs. Poonam Yadav along with 54 students from ECS, IT, CSE, EEE, ECE & ME Departments visited the plant.
The objective of the visit was to give the students a brief understanding of sheet metal requirements of the automotive industry.
SKH Metal Company manufactures the spare parts of Maruti Suzuki like rear axle, fuel tanks, suspension frames, axel housing etc. The Centre of the company is established in Gurgaon and the second branch of the company is in Manesar.
Mr. Vinod from the HR Department, SKH Metals Limited briefed the students about the SKH Metals and the manufacturing units in the industry. Students were divided into four groups, the first group was headed by Mr. Vinod, second group was headed by Mr. Rohit Yadav, Engineer, SKH Metals, third group was guided by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Senior Engineer, SKH Metals and the fourth group was guided by Mr. Akshay, Engineer, SKH Metals. The groups were taken into the industry and each guide explained about the different departments of the company. The experts made the students aware about the various types of welding by having live demonstrations of their welding workshop where the products are manufactured. For manufacturing they have a separate department in which all the body parts are manufactured by the use of sheet metal. Operations of welding & moulding were fully automatic with the help of robotic machines.
It was very educative experience for the students. The visit helped them to learn about the present industry scenario and the demands of companies. The students also got the opportunity to see live demonstrations of different technologies used in Sheet Metal Industry.
