Annual Economics Conclave 2015

Ecotryst, the economics society of SGTB Khalsa College organized The Annual Economics Conclave 2015 on 28th October 2015 at SGTB Khalsa College. The theme of discussion at the event was 'Global Economic Scenario: Lessons and Opportunities for India'. Akshit Jaggi (15453) and Aditya Chhillar (15449) from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the event.
The objective of the event was to make the participants understand the factors that influence the Indian economic growth. Economics, is a social science, and is an indicator that encourage the Indian growth model and markets discipline.
Ecotryst, brought together a panel of 5 distinctly speakers who discussed the the mechanisms that exist externally yet drive the Indian growth machinery.
The following speakers on the panel enriched the session:
1. Dr. Sunil Kanwar (Professor, Delhi School of Economics)
2. Ms. Bidisha Ganguly (Principal Economist, CII)
3. Dr. Madhu Vij (Professor, Faculty of Management Studies)
4. Mr. Kashyap Deorah (Entrepreneur, Investor and Author)
5. Mr. Asit Singh (IRS and Director, Income Tax Department)
These panelists expressed their opinions that emerged, collided, converged with economics on the issue, ‘Global Economic Scenario: Lessons and Opportunities for India’. The participants witnessed diverse branches of the main issue. Dr. Sunil Kanwar took up the issue of IPRs and their manipulation to incentivize growth. Dr. Madhu Vij and Ms. Bidisha Gangulytouched upon the problem of systemic failures in the global community adding to which the rising opportunities out of the contemporary events of substance. Mr. Asit Singh targeted sustainable growth through enabling jobs within the common masses. Mr. Kashyap Deorah enthusiastically interacted with students on the bonds of start-ups and online industry. Finally Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Principal SGTB Khalsa College clustered up the points presented and elaborated them with real-life examples.
This event helped students make a leap in their intellectual level. The participants learned from the discussion which can be channelized to create opportunity and build developmental strategies.
