Debate and an Elocution Contest
on
“Vigilance is a necessary aid to Governance”

On 27th October 2015, six students Nikhil Kumar (18107); Vertika (18181); Akshit Kohli (18200); Pranav Sharma(18118); Kanchan Gosain ( 18215) and Utkarsh Pallav Singh (18425) from Applied Sciences & Humanities Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the Debate & Elocution Contest on the topic“Vigilance is a necessary aid to Governance” or was a medium of observing Vigilance Awareness Week from 26th to 31st October 2015 organised by GAIL India Limited at DGI, Greater Noida. The basic motto of this week was to create a corruption free society.
Inaugurating the contest Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Bagga, Director, DGI, Greater Noida expressed that the observance of the week creates awareness among people and organisations to check corruption at every level. He further shared that such programs would inspire the system to implement preventive measures effectively, so that transparency and accountability can be maintained in the governance.
On this occasion, the Chief - guest Hon’ble Dr. R.K. Tripathi, Joint Director, RAC, DRDO encouraged the students to participate in such type of competitions which could make them aware about corruption which is anti-poor, antidevelopment, anti-growth, anti-investment and inequitable. The Guest of Honour was Mr. S.V. Prasad, GM & OIC,GAIL, NCR Regionwho made the participants aware on various aspects of Gas pipeline and urged te remain vigilant for the safety of the society. Other dignitaries of the day were Mr. R.K. Bhilwara, DGM(HR), GAIL, Mr. Vimal Kumar (SM, GAILTEL), Mr. Surender Kumar SM(O&M), GAIL, Mr. Abhinav Pandey, GM, GAIL, Mr. S.K. Nanda, Chief Manager, GAIL, Mr. Ajay Kumaretc.
Teams from the different colleges of NCR participated in this contest. The candidates showed their spirit with full zest. Nikhil Kumar Roll No.18107 got the First position in the elocution contest (Hindi). Another team comprising Vertika Roll No.18181 and Akshit Kohli Roll No. 18200 bagged the First Prize in the debate (Hindi) contest. Another team consisting of Kanchana Gosain Roll No. 18218 and Utakarsh Pallav Singh Roll No. 18425 got the second position in the debate (English) competition. Students received Participation Certificates and Cash Awards Rs. Rs.5000/, Rs.3000/- & Rs.2000/ for First, Second and Third Prizes respectively.
