Virtual Session on "Pursuit of Excellence"

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized a technical session on 14th March 2024 for the students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students of Mechanical and Robotics and Automation Engineering. The speaker of the session was Mr. Joshy Thomas (Associate GM, HR, Hyundai Motors India Ltd.) The session was held at Seminar Hall and aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry expectations. It focused on career readiness, industry trends, and the skills required to thrive in the mechanical engineering domain.
The primary objectives of the session were to familiarize students with current industry demands and opportunities, to guide students on improving their employability skills and to provide insights into the recruitment process, including resume building, interviews, and group discussions.
Various topics related to industry trends in mechanical engineering, including advancements in automation, robotics, and sustainable manufacturing were covered during the session. Mr. Thomas also covered explanation of essential technical and soft skills required for a successful career in the field. An overview of the recruitment process and tips for excelling at each stage and the importance of internships, certifications, and project work was also disseminated.
The Interactive activities during the session covered mock interviews and group discussions to help students understand the evaluation process.
Lastly, a Q&A session took place, where students raised queries about career planning and job expectations.
Benefits/Outcomes: Students gained a clear understanding of the current industry landscape and potential career paths. Practical tips for creating an impactful resume and handling interviews confidently were provided. The session also emphasized the importance of continuous learning and up-skilling to stay updated in the field.
