Industrial Visit to National Institute of Solar Energy
12th March 2024
ISTE Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized an industrial visit to “National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE)” on 12th March 2024. Students of ECE/EEE/ECS along with faculty members Dr. Yogita Yashveer Raghav and Mr. Kunal Karn went for the visit.
The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into solar energy generation, thermal power, and hydrogen production technologies.
The authorities at NISE, briefed the students about the institute's objectives, ongoing research, and contributions to the renewable energy sector. Students observed the solar panels, tracking systems and grid connections. NISE mentors also explained the process of converting sunlight into electricity efficiently. Mentors provided valuable insights into the advancements in photovoltaic technology and its role in sustainable energy production. Students learned about the utilization of thermal energy derived from sources such as coal, natural gas, or biomass to generate electricity. They were also exposed to the functioning of boilers, turbines, and generators, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the thermodynamic principles involved in power generation. They witnessed electrolysis processes, hydrogen compression techniques, and applications of hydrogen fuel cells in various sectors.
The industrial visit to NISE was a great learning experience for the students. They not only gained theoretical knowledge but also acquired practical insights into the production, storage, and utilization of renewable energy sources. Interacting with experts and witnessing cutting-edge technologies firsthand deepened their understanding and sparked their curiosity about sustainable energy solutions.
