NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP: Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore
5th - 11th March 2024
Ten dedicated and active NSS volunteers of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram along with Dr. Anupam Dalal (NSS Program Officer) attended the National Integration Camp held at Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 5th – 11th March, 2024.
The National Service Scheme (NSS), a Central Sector Scheme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports of the Government of India, plays a vital role in shaping the personality and character of student. Through voluntary community service, NSS volunteers gain valuable life experiences and contribute meaningfully to society. The motto, "Education through Service," underscores the program's focus on experiential learning.
Bringing together students from across length and breadth of India, the camp served as a platform for fostering national integration.

Day One Report:
The program likely began with a warm welcome, followed by ice-breaking activities and introductions to facilitate interaction between participants.
The inauguration camp in Bharathiyar University was a vibrant celebration that epitomized the rich cultural heritage of the region. The program commenced with a traditional invocation, featuring classical music and dance performances that mesmerized the audience with their grace and elegance. Through this cultural extravaganza, attendees were not only entertained but also gained a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultural tapestry that defines Tamil Nadu.
The camp's success can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of the NSS team:

Day Two Report:
The second day of the National Integration Camp commenced with a dignified flag hoisting ceremony. The occasion was led by Dr. K. Murugavel, a respected figure representing Tamil Nadu. His presence set the tone for a day focused on national unity and cultural exchange. Following the ceremony, participants actively engaged in separate exercise sessions tailored for both genders. These sessions served as an excellent way to energize the group and promote physical well-being.
Afterwards the focus shifted to the academic segment. Dr. Manju Pushpa, a renowned expert, led an engaging session exploring the realm of physical education. The session provided valuable insights into the importance of healthy living and physical activity for overall well-being. Following this, Dr. Amudha delivered an informative session on recent technological advancements. The session sparked curiosity and discussion about the ever-evolving role of technology.
Followed by Dr. Amudha’s session, the atmosphere shifted to lively sports sessions. The sports sessions fostered a spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition among attendees from diverse regions of India. The competitive spirit likely served as a platform for participants to build bonds and celebrate their shared experiences at the camp.
Afterwards cultural events began. The evening program offered participants a chance to showcase their unique cultural heritage through traditional dances, music, and performances. It provided a platform for knowledge exchange and appreciation of the rich tapestry of Indian culture.
The second day of the National Integration Camp concluded with a satisfying dinner, fostering a sense of community and shared experiences. The day's activities provided a perfect blend of physical activity, intellectual stimulation, cultural exploration, and social interaction. The combination undoubtedly contributed to a successful and enriching experience for all participants.
Day Three Report:
The third day of the National Integration Camp commenced with a vibrant flag hoisting ceremony. Dr. T. Radha Krishnan, Professor from the Department of Physical Education at Bharathiar University, had the honor of hoisting the flag. The Kerala team, responsible for flag duty on this day, welcomed Dr. Radha Krishnan with a spirited parade, adding to the festive atmosphere. After a special address by Dr. Radha Krishnan, the ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks.
Following the flag hoisting ceremony, everyone gathered for a refreshing yoga session. The session, led by Dr. V. Vallimurugan, Associate Professor in Physical Education, aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among participants. The invigorating yoga postures likely served as a perfect way to start the day and prepare for the activities ahead.
Then focus shifted to academics. Three engaging sessions were held from 9:50 am to 1:10 pm, each led by a renowned expert in their respective fields.
The first session, delivered by Dr. P. Nagaraj, Professor & Head of the Department of English at Bharathiar University, explored a topic of English language and literature. A vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Anupam Dalal, NSS Program Officer from DCE, Gurugram. Afterwards, Dr. V. Vallimurugan, conducted the second academic session. The final session of the morning was led by Dr. P. Premasudha, Assistant Professor in Nano Science and Technology. The session provided participants with an opportunity to gain insights into the fascinating world of nanotechnology and its potential applications.
During the afternoon session, participants gathered at the Indoor Stadium for a session of sports and games. The session undoubtedly fostered a spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition and allowed participants to bond over shared activities.
During the evening session, cultural events segment began. Teams from various states showcased their unique cultural heritage through vibrant performances, ranging from traditional dances and music to captivating storytelling. Students were thus provided a platform for cultural exchange and appreciation for the diverse tapestry of India.
Day three of the National Integration Camp provided a well-balanced schedule, encompassing physical activity, intellectual stimulation, cultural exploration, and social interaction. The various activities undoubtedly contributed to the participants' growth and fostered a sense of connection amongst them. The camp continued to serve as a platform for national integration and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of India.
Day Four Report:
The fourth day of the National Integration Camp commenced with a lively flag hoisting ceremony. Dr. M. Ilanchezhian, Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Bharathiar University, had the honor of hoisting the flag. The Karnataka team, responsible for flag duty on this day, welcomed Dr. Ilanchezhian with a spirited parade, setting the tone for an energetic day. Following a special address by Dr. Ilanchezhian, the ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks.
To further energize the participants, a dynamic Zumba session was held in the morning. The 50-minute session likely provided a fun and engaging way for participants to exercise and bond with each other. The upbeat music and energetic movements undoubtedly boosted energy levels and prepared everyone for the day's activities.
Afterwards, the focus shifted to academics once again. Three informative sessions were held from 9:50 am to 1:10 pm, each led by a distinguished expert:
The first session, delivered by Dr. P. Anbalagan, Associate Professor in Physical Education, delivered session on a topic related to health and fitness. Following a tea break, Dr. P. Sandhaya, Kerala Health University conducted the second session. The session focused on public health and healthcare initiatives. The final session of the morning was led by Dr. R. Annadurai, Professor in Physical Education at Bharathiar University. The session provided valuable insights into a specific area of physical education.
Then participants gathered at the Bharathiar University Indoor Stadium for another session of sports and games. The session undoubtedly fostered a spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and friendly competition amongst the attendees from various states.
Then, the much-anticipated cultural activities session began, providing a platform for cultural exchange and celebration. Teams from different states showcased their unique cultural heritage through vibrant performances. The evening served as an incredible opportunity for participants, including the Haryana team, to promote their state's rich cultural traditions through a captivating performance.
Day four of the National Integration Camp provided a well-rounded experience that included physical activity, intellectual stimulation, cultural exploration, and a chance to celebrate diversity. The various sessions and activities undoubtedly contributed to the participants' learning, knowledge sharing, and a sense of camaraderie amongst them. The camp continued to serve as a platform for promoting national integration and appreciating the vibrant cultural tapestry of India.
Day Five Report:
The fifth day of the National Integration Camp began with a momentous occasion. Team Haryana had the distinct honor of being the flag-hoisting team for the day. With immense pride, the team Haryana welcomed Dr. M. Ilanchezhian, Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Bharathiar University, with a spirited parade. Following his special address, the ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks expressed by a representative from DCE.
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, participants actively engaged in an intense aerobics exercise session. The session provided a great way to energize the group and promote cardiovascular health before embarking on the day's activities. The energetic movements and upbeat music likely fostered a sense of camaraderie and enthusiasm amongst the participants. Then the camp ventured on a visit to the auspicious Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple situated in Marudhamalai. While visiting the temple, staying true to the spirit of NSS volunteerism, students actively participated in cleaning the surrounding areas and demonstrated true commitment towards social responsibility.
Upon returning from the temple visit, the camp participants engaged in a creative activity. All collaborated to create a magnificent map of India using burning lamps. The symbolic representation of nation served as a powerful reminder of India's unity and diversity. The warm glow of the lamps ignited a sense of positive energy and collective spirit amongst the participant.
As the day progressed, a lively campfire setting provided a space for storytelling, laughter, and sharing experiences. The campfire served as a platform for participants to bond with each other on a deeper level, fostering friendships and strengthening the sense of community within the camp.
Day five of the National Integration Camp provided a unique blend of experiences. It started with the responsibility and pride of the flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by the physical activity of aerobics and a spiritual pilgrimage. The community service aspect through temple cleaning, the creative India map activity, and the social gathering around the campfire all contributed to a memorable and enriching day.
Day Six Report:
The sixth day of the National Integration Camp commenced with a focus on promoting health and unity. Participants embarked on a rejuvenating walkathon, exploring the surrounding areas together. The invigorating activity not only encouraged physical well-being but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and shared experience amongst the diverse group.
The highlight of the morning was a visit to the ancient and revered Velliangiri Temple. Steeped in history and cultural significance, the temple offered participants an opportunity to immerse themselves in the spiritual ambiance. Exploring the temple's architecture and learning about its traditions provided valuable insights into the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The afternoon saw the group embark on a journey to the Isha Foundation. The highlight of this visit was undoubtedly a mesmerizing laser light display projected onto the majestic Adiyogi Statue. The awe-inspiring spectacle, highlighted the symbolism of enlightenment and inner transformation
As the day concluded, participants returned to the campsite, reflecting on the profound experiences of the past few hours. The opportunity to explore historical and spiritual sites, engage in physical activity, and share meals together undoubtedly contributed to their understanding and appreciation of the region's cultural heritage.
Day six of the National Integration Camp truly encapsulated its essence – promoting physical and emotional well-being, fostering cultural exchange, and creating a sense of unity and camaraderie amongst students from across India.
Day Seven Report:
The National Integration Camp (NIC) culminated on a high note, marked the end of a week filled with intense learning and camaraderie. Participants gathered for one final time, a mix of excitement and nostalgia hanging in the air.
The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated certificate distribution ceremony. The ceremony served as a formal recognition of the dedication and hard work each participant invested throughout the camp. As names were called and certificates awarded, smiles of accomplishment beamed across faces in the room. The ceremony transcended mere recognition; it was a moment for participants to reflect on their journey at the camp. They reminisced the knowledge gained, the friendships built, and the experiences that would undoubtedly leave a lasting impact.
The closing ceremony featured heartfelt speeches filled with gratitude from both participants and organizers. The speeches served as a fitting finale, expressing appreciation for the enriching experience and the bonds formed during the camp. With a bittersweet farewell, participants bid adieu to each other, knowing that the friendships made and the knowledge gained would resonate for years to come.
Dr. Anupam Dalal's from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram received the "Best Programme Officer Award" for her commendable contribution to the camp's success.
