NSS Mega Camp At Assam
19th to 30th January 2015
Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the NSS regional centre, organized a twelve-day NSS Mega Camp from 19th to 30th January 2015 in Assam. Four NSS Volunteers Vishal Phogat (Roll No. 15425), Prashant( Roll No.15353), Paras Thakral (RollNo.15068) , Sahil (Roll No. 15089) from Dronacharya College Of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the camp.
NSS Mega Camp was held at two venues i.e. Majuli College and Dibrugargh in Assam, India. The main focus of the Camp at Majuli College was to represent the states through cultural activities. The volunteers also visited different historical places and oil- refinery at Dibrugargh.
During the camp the volunteers from each state of India represented the incredibility of their cultural and historical significance through various performances. Dignitaries like Mr. Sarbananda Sanowal, Hon’ble Youth Minister, Govt.of India, Mr. Girish Kumar Tuteja, the Program Advisor of NSS, Mr. Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Jorhat; Mr. Sunil (NSS Head Assam) , Mr. Atul Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University; Dr. Sashikanta Saikia, the Principal Majuli College, Dr. Kataki (NSS Financial Load Head) motivated the volunteers and shared their views on social services. During their camp at Dibrugargh the volunteers visited the biggest oil refinery of Asia, wild life sanctuary which made the camping experience even more adventurous for the volunteers.
On the concluding day of the camp, the volunteers were given away certificates by the Chief-Guest Mr. Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, in the august presence of Mr. Atul Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugargh University and Mr. Sunil, Youth Officer of North East.
The Camp was altogether very interesting, adventurous and the volunteers got an excellent opportunity to meet participants from all over India. It was a fun filled learning experience for everyone.
