DEPTT OF E&CE BRIEF ON IEEE AISC MEET ON 10 JAN 15 AT DTU NEW DELHI
Prof. (Mrs.) A.N. Mahajan from Electronics and Communication Engineering Department along with eight students of VI Sem (Vibhuti Krishan Abhishek Kumar, Sagar Bhatia, Dhruv, Tannya bajaj, Viplav, Navin Singla, Ruby Sharma) attended IEEE All India Student Congress (AISC) on 10 January 2015 at DTU, New Delhi
IEEE Student Branch of Delhi Technological University is the oldest and the largest Student Branch in the IEEE Delhi Section. IEEE Delhi Student Congress was an event which was a perfect balance between knowledge, interaction and student activities. Branch Counselors and student volunteer members from various institutes across the Delhi Section were the other attendees for the event. The aim of the Congress meet was to provide the platform for various issues and come up with feasible solutions.
The day started with student group activity for student volunteers. It was followed by lamp lightning. Dr. S. Indu, Branch Counselor, DTU welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. (Mrs.) Mini Thomas and addressed the gathering regarding the student activities at DTU Delhi. Dr. Rachana Garg, faculty DTU and Treasurer IEEE Delhi section was the speaker. She gave information related to funds made available by Delhi section for various student branches in her speech. Further she also suggested that an activity by students may be conducted under WIE where student volunteers can provide small help to some NGO or school. Dr. Prerna Gaur, Secretary IEEE Delhi section was the speaker, who spoke on different rules and regulations for all student branches and Delhi student activities. DCE, Gurgaon, MSIT and NSIT along with DTU were appreciated for the activities conducted during the year 2014.
Next speech after tea break was delivered by Prof. Mini Thomas, Executive Vice Chair, IEEE Delhi section. She gave presentation on “Smart Cities”. The parameters which are responsible for making of smart cities were discussed in brief. The Smart City parameters are Smart Meter, Smart Light, Smart Networking, Smart Security, Smart Homes, Smart data and IT services and Smart Utilities. The necessity of smart living environment will lead to smart electricity for emerging market. The need for renewable energy sources and smart grid are also important factors. She also appreciated students of various branches interacting with each other in respect of IEEE activities.
Next speaker after lunch was Mr. Ravi Batra, Chairperson, DTU Delhi. He gave a presentation on various student activities organized at DTU during last year. Fun activity for students was the next event. The basic purpose was to make the students relaxed. It was followed by a talk by Ms. Disha Chabra (DTU Alumni) on the topic “Its all about Choices you make”.
Next session was ‘Project Showcase’ by students. Projects based on various technologies were displayed. The session was concluded by Branch Counselor Prof. S. Indu.
The event has been very useful for students as they could take home new ideas and had exposure to new technical aspects.
