WORKSHOP ON COGNITIVE RADIO USING USRP
Ms. Chandra Mukherjee Assistant Professor from Electronics and Computer Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a “Workshop on Cognitive Radio using USRP” at Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad from 6th to 10th January 2015. This workshop was organized with an objective to introduce recent research aspects in the field of cognitive radio.
Initially, the distinguished academicians Prof. Vishnu Priye (HOD, Electronics Dept.), ISM Dhanbad, Prof. Debjani Mitra (Course Coordinator, Dept of Electronics), ISM Dhanbad, Prof. S. Bhattacharya ( Course Coordinator, Dept of Electronics), ISM Dhanbad, Mr. Kalyan (Industrial Expert), NI Instruments and Ms. Preeti (Industrial Expert), NI Instruments discussed different aspects of Introduction to Cognitive Radio, “Numerical Implementation of Cognitive Radio by Wavelet transform, Practical Implementation of cognitive radio with the help of LABVIEW software etc. They also exposed the technical applications of LABVIEW modulation & Toolkits, Adaptive Modulation Technique for Cognitive radio, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Scheme (OFDM), Wavelet Transform, Communication system during the hands-on sessions of the workshop.
The experts from industry and academia along with researchers from various universities joined the workshop. The distinguished speakers enlightened with the current advancements in Cognitive radio in Communication system and other related streams.
The workshop was very beneficial to all the participants and they gained additional knowledge of this subject and also succeeded in enhancing their teaching skills. They experienced a practical hands-on exposure that was very much useful for their further research work in a diversified areas of technology. It also provided a common platform for all academicians to interact with each other and share their knowledge and ideas to enhance their technical knowledge in the field of Cognitive radio and signal processing.
