GUEST LECTURE

An expert lecture was organized by ECE Dept. for the students of Third Year (ECE,EEE,) on 30th Jan 15 on “Personality Development”. It was delivered by Mr. Sandeep Ghai from Aon Hewitts. He explained about “how to express yourself” and also different techniques and steps to express self & communicate with others.
He emphasized that personality development is development of organized pattern of behavior and attitude. Also, he said that bringing about a change in our personalities is difficult but with passion and determination, one can change. He further elaborated on the seven dimensions of human personality, which are as follows:
1. Physical
2. Emotional
3. Familial
4. Professional
5. Spiritual
6. Mental
7. Social
According to him, the factors that shape up our personality are biological factors, environment and various situations that we face while growing up. The students got some tips on how to enhance various aspects of their personality. They were advised to have role models, be positive, seek good in past, present and future, and strengthen their morality and ethics. They were also taught to nurture relationships, value friendships and express gratitude.
He further added that Personality Development and Personal Communication are two of the most important facets that any professional must work on. He motivated the students to gain skills in addition to their subject knowledge. He advised the students to face the real world situations appropriately to build their career in a prospective manner. The students enjoyed the session as it was fully focused on the personality development which helped the students to be ready to face the challenges in the career.
The key learning’s for the students from the session were
1. How to set goals and how to define time needed to achieve these goals.
2. How to get inspiration to achieve these goals.
The students interacted enthusiastically and the resource person answered their queries and cleared their doubts. The session was very interactive concerns regarding the life and culture in the corporate world were very nicely addressed.
