Faculty Development Program on Microsoft Azure and Internet of Things
15th and 16th March 2016
A two day Faculty Development Program on Microsoft Azure and Internet of Things was conducted by the Microsoft Innovation Centre, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon on 15th & 16th March 2016 in the campus. Around 50 faculty members from CSIT, IT, CSE and ECS Departments attended the program.
The session was presided over by Mr Suketu Nayak and Mr Shyamal Pandya, trainers from Microsoft. Mr Suketu Nayak introduced faculty to the basics of MS Azure and virtual machines. Over the 2 days they taught about how to use Azure platform for creating Web Applications. They also helped the participants in creating virtual machines using Windows platform.
On the First day of the program, the experts Mr. Suketu Nayak and Mr. Shyamal Pandya introduced Microsoft Azure and Cloud Computing. They explained about various components of Azure like analytics, computing, database, mobile, networking, storage, web - hosting etc. All the faculties did Hands - On Training on website hosting.
On Day 2, the participants were briefed about how to create virtual machines using Ubuntu 12.04 as a platform. They also introduced online tutorials like Azure Vidyapeeth which has archived webinars and also Face book groups which can help in creating Azure apps. They also disseminated the theoretical as well as practical concepts of Internet of Things(IOT) which starts with things that matter most to any business.
Overall it was an interactive and a knowledgeable seminar.
