SEMINAR ON “GREEN POWER IN INDIA”
Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a one-day Seminar on “Green Power in India” on 28th August 2015. The seminar was jointly conducted by ISTE student Chapter DCE and Eco-Club of the college. More than 120 participants were present at the Seminar. The seminar was designed to increase the attendees’ knowledge and awareness on the present day expectations in regard to various concepts of green power.
The objective of the seminar was to create consciousness about environment and to discuss some significant measures to be adapted for making India cleaner and Greener. Inaugurating the seminar Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasadexpressed that presently India is struggling with skyrocketing energy demands, declining energy supplies, and peak load blackouts and shortages that limit energy access. Talking about its importance he stated that Green power, renewable power and conservation of energy are more efficient solutions for creating better future. He further stated that Sun is one of the most popular sources for renewable energy. The energy captured from the sun, through solar panels, can be easily converted to electrical energy. Wind energy, Windmills, Water can also be used as a source for alternative power.
Dr. Khushboo Rinawa, Assistant Professor, Applied Science & Humanities Department of the college delivered a talk on “Green Power in India”. She also opined that Green energy sources are non-polluting and help in lowering the carbon emission, thereby decreasing the risks of global warming. With the increase in pollution created by the fossil fuels, people are now looking forward to build an energy efficient environment with the help of green energy resources so as to have safer living.
In addition to the lecture session the students also participated in poster-presentation competition on “Green Power India”. The first position was bagged by Rohan Gupta (Roll No. 18143) and Priyanka (Roll No. 16543) was on the second position. In the presence of ISTE Coordinators and other dignitaries, Hon’ble Principal gave away the Prizes to these bright candidates and winners of the poster competition.
The seminar ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Neelam Ruhil the ISTE Chapter Head of DCE Gurgaon.
