Industrial visit to 7 BRD Air Force Station

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaonconducted an industrial visit to 7 BRD Air Force Station, Tughlakabad, New Delhi on 20 - 21 Aug 2015. Sixty five students from ECE Department visited the site along with faculty members Mrs. Amninder Kaur, Mrs. Sakshi Pahuja andMr. Ashish Gambhir on 20th and 21st August 2015.
The team was welcomed by Wg Cdr Anupam Tiwari and others officers of the BRD. Liaison Officer divided the team into two groups with one officer in each group. The students were introduced to different squadrons, sites, hangars and laboratories inside the campus. The following electronic and electrical systems/equipment was demonstrated to the students by the specialists at different sites:
a) P-18 and P-19 radar
b) ST-68 radar
c) Parabolic Antenna reflector, Horn antenna, Yagi antennas, radomes
d) INDRA-II radar
e) Remote Test Equipment
During the visit, individual major subassemblies of radar like High Power Magnetron, Reflex Klystrons, different parts of antenna assembly, antenna drive and gear systems, power supply equipment, combat vehicles, launching pad etc. were demonstrated by the specialists to the students. The students were also given an overview of Air Defense Radar and Missile deployment system and different missile guidance systems.
Airman Suhas Kumar motivated the students to make an in depth study of their subjects and asked the students various questions of Signals and Systems. He also motivated the students to come forward and join the Indian Air Force in future.
On the whole, the visit was a very fruitful exercise as it gave an opportunity to the students to have a closer look at various complicated equipment used for defense of the country such as Air Defense Radars, Missiles with state of art technology and it also exposed them to the practical environment of Indian Air Force.
