Telecom Evolution from 1G to 5G

Department of Information Technology and Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering ofDronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon jointly organized a one day seminar on Telecom Evolution from 1G to 5G in association with Huawei Network Academy and Indovision on 12th August 2015. The seminar was coordinated by faculty members Mr. Dharmendra Pal, Associate Professor (Information Technology) and Mrs. Sakshi Pahuja, Associate Professor (Electronics & Communication Engineering) and final year students of ECE, IT, CSE, EEE and ECSparticipated in the program.
Mr. Bhartendu, Sr. Manager from Ericsson India Pvt. Ltd., the guest speaker of the event, shared his work experience & journey of wireless technology from 1G to 5G. He started with technology & architecture used in 1G, 2G and 3G. Different service providers like Airtel, Vodafone, MTNL, Reliance and many more are in the race of implementing new tools and technology which increases the speed of network and thus services which is the main priority of the subscribers.
4G by Airtel is in the market and by making some minimum changes the speed of network can be enjoyed at the fullest. 4G is the fourth generation standard for mobile communication. A successor to 3G, 4G technology offers ultra-fast broadband Internet with higher data transfer speeds and improved services. Also referred to as LTE (Long Term Evolution), Airtel network is equipped to offer max speeds of up to 45Mbps (megabits/seconds). With such high download speeds, users can enjoy zero buffering while streaming high-definition videos. Also, a 1GB file would take roughly about three minutes to download.
Mr. Bhartendu also explained the role of various vendors like Ericsson & Huawei in bringing up the technology from 1G to 5G at the user end. In December 2015, Reliance will be complete it’s project called Green Field, which is the foundation of 4G, 5G further G’s of telecom technology.
Mr. Vinay, Director Indovision also shared his views on the platform of Networking. He explained about the need & requirement of young skilled engineers in the field of networking.
Overall the seminar was very interactive and speakers were able to clarify doubts of students.
