They answered the questions raised by participants. Since the theme of this event was EMPLOYABILITY, therefore the discussions were on employability problems in India and solving those problems by use of technology and data science. The purpose of the event was to highlight the problems and its nuances or potential solutions.
Mr. Gaurav Gandhi, CEO, MLABS Research Inc gave a presentation along with discussion on INTERNET OF THINGS which is one of the most important topics of the current time.
Mr. Saurabh Aggarwal delivered a talk on how to achieve goals. He said that students coming out of higher education face multiple problems in finding their first job. There are two key reasons for it. The first is lack of skills and the second reason is lack of meritocracy in the job market – companies are not able to reach to employable students and many students with the right skills also miss out on jobs. So students need to overcome these hindrances, develop job related skills then only they will become employable in the current job market.
After the discussion session the students were divided into groups and were given a topic to present. This activity not only helped them to work in a team with unknown people but encouraged and gave them confidence to talk and have an experience with new people. This also showcased their leadership capabilities. The topics adhered to the theme of the event:
1. Make a 5 minutes long video which will explain to a layman the problems of employability.
2. Make a PowerPoint presentation of 15 slides.
3. Write an article of less than 500 words on qualitative or quantitative analysis, but should provide us some insight.
4. Make a prototype of a mobile app using ANY technology/language. The mobile app could help companies, jobseekers or institutions. It should run directly without any external emulator.
5. Make a poster – exhort jobseekers, corporations or institutions to do something about the employability . problem.
The conference taught the students about employment and also gave them an experience to interact with students from all over the country attending the conference. This was a key and inspiring conference. Certificate of participation were distributed at the end of the event.
