MOCK PLACEMENT PREPARATORY SESSION
22nd AUGUST 2015
The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon held a Mock placement preparatory session for the Final Year students, on 22nd August 2015.
The main objective of the session being conducted was:
1. To make students aware of the corporate face and how to tackle it.
2. All trivial things students must focus on during facing interviews.
3. Resume building since it reflects the overall impression of a student’s academic achievements.
4. Discussion on topics important for students during interview.
The preparatory sessions were conducted by alumni of the college along with faculty placement coordinators Mr. Surinder Dhaka and Mrs. Sanghamitra V. Arora. The alumni comprised of students from the 2004 batch were as follows:
1. Mr. Vineet Goyal, Sr. Manager at Aircel.
2. Mr. Yash Kumar, system engineer at Igate global solutions
3. Mr. Sagar Nainkwal from Atos Origin
4. Mr. Prashant Vashisht. from Amdocs Private Ltd
The inputs given by them were highly appreciated by the students as well as the members of faculty. Since, their inputs were very relevant to the changing trends of the industry.
In the first session group discussion on current topics were conducted in group of seven students. Through this the involvement and knowledge of the students on technical aspects as well as current affairs were analysed. On the spot feedback and corrective inputs were suggested to the students.
In the second session a mock Technical and HR interviews round was arranged to give the students an opportunity to experience of how to face an interview on one to one basis. They were made to go through three separate panels and were graded. In the end of the session, the alumni briefed the students on the recent trends of resume writing, grooming and aptitude requirements. They also explained the job market scenario for the ECE students. The students came to know about certain certifications which shall assist them in their pursuit for a correct job profile.
The Mock placement preparatory session proved to be a source of motivation for the students. They were very content with the kind of inputs they got from their seniors. It was an eye opener for the freshers as they came face to face with the real corporate world. They were inspired to work on improving their competency levels.
