9th NATIONAL RESEARCH METHODOLOGY WORKSHOP
25th - 27th August, 2017
Two students Mohit Yadav (VII SEM, 17085) and Shubham Kumar (VII SEM, 17139) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the 9th National Research Methodology Workshop organized by PGI, GWALIOR from the 25th - 27th August 2017.
Day 1 : 25th August 2017
Dr. Saurabh Mukherjee (Associate Professor at Banasthali University, Rajasthan) started the first day session and gave a brief introduction on how to prepare research papers. It involves: Objective corresponding to specific domain, Literature Review, Research Methodology, Results and Discussions and Writing the references.
Later, students learned the basics of MATLAB tool boxes. Students also learned Medical Image Processing (MIPs) including its scope and utilities and its usage in daily life.
Medical Image Processing (MIPs) is the technique and process of creating visual representations of interior of a body for clinical analysis and medical intervention, as well as visual representation of the function of some organs or tissues. Medical imaging seeks to reveal internal structures hidden by skin and bones, as well as to diagnose and treat disease. In the clinical context, medical imaging is generally equated to radiology.
Day 2: 26th Aug 2017
On the second day of workshop students learned Detection of Brain Abnormality and Extraction Techniques using DICOM. Next students learnt image processing using MATLAB. In the session, students learned image enhancement which contains following methods: Brightness Enhancement, Contrast, Image Negative or Inverse Transformation, Thresholding in images and Image enhancement in frequency domain and Image improvement.
Students also learnt MATLAB. MATLAB is a multi-paradigm numerical computing environment and fourth-generation programming language. A proprietary programming language developed by Math Works, MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data.
Day 3 : 27th Aug 2016
On the third day, Dr. Saurabh Mukherjee gave some useful tips to write a Research Paper. Students were divided into two different teams and started writing the Research Paper.
Writing of research Paper includes: Topic, Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Research Gap and Objectives, Research Methodology, Experimental Setup, Results and Discussion, Conclusion and References / Bibliography.
On the last day, both the teams completed their respective Research Paper and presented it successfully before Dr. Saurabh Mukherjee.
