World Biofuel Day - 2017

Students Neha Pawar(19616), Supriya Bharti(19631) and Suraj Raj(19654) of Civil Engineering Department and Aakarsh Singh Rawat(19301), Deepak Yadav(19329) and Rohit Yadav (19386) of Mechanical Engineering Department from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended World Biofuel Day-2017 Celebrations on 10th August 2017 at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.
The main objective of the celebration was to spread awareness to the people and especially to the students in making Earth green and clean and its advocation for sustainable development so as to ensure availability of resources for our future generations to come.
World Bio-fuel day, also known as the International Biodiesel Day, is observed every year on 10th August to create awareness about the importance of non-fossil fuels (Green fuels or Bio-fuels). Bio-fuels are renewable, bio-degradable, sustainable and environment friendly fuel. It can be seen as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels. The history of this day goes back to the same day in 1893 when Sir Rudalph Diesel (inventor of the diesel engine) for the first time successfully ran mechanical engine with peanut oil.
Minister of Shipping and Road, Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari and Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the World Bio-fuel Day at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. After the inauguration program, the program was carried forward by speeches from the dignitaries who made the students and everyone present in the hall aware of the bio-fuel resources. Special emphasis was given on how to switch from fossil fuel based sources of energy to bio-fuels.
Overall it was a inspiring and awareness creating session and the students were felicitated to hear the speeches from the dignitaries present there.
