ACME-17

CSI Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaonorganized “ACME-17” – One Day Summit by IT Professionals for the final year students on 12th August 2017 driven by the IT Experts and Alumni of Dronacharya.
The main aim of the event was to prepare students for the world of work and guide them for their CVs and interviewing skills.
The Panel of Experts constituted the following Professionals: Seemant Bisht (Senior Associate), BDO India LLP,SaraanshTaneja (Associate Consultant), Ernst & Young LLP, Himanshu Thakur (Security Analyst), Cyber Group India Pvt. Ltd. , Ira Arora (Security Analyst), Oracle India Limited, Divisha Jain (Java Developer), anovIP, Nikhil (System Engineer) and Deepak Vashisth (Software Developer), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.
Panelists explained students’ employability skills are required not only to gain employment, but also to progress within an enterprise so as to achieve one’s potential and contribute successfully to the enterprise in a strategic direction. The session covered the following modules:
- One to One interaction with the IT Experts of different fields in computers: The interactions gave the students a look at the merits and challenges of corporate life.
- Building a strong resume: The session helped the student for preparing an effective resume.
- Mock Technical & HR Interview of every student individually. The session was useful for students. They got to know about the types of questions asked in the interview and how to overcome the nervousness during the interview.
- Personal Interview: There is also a personal interview session in which students were made to know about the question and how to answer them.
They also discussed some common questions asked in an interview like:
- Know yourself and the potential employer - spend time thinking about your goals, talents, skills, abilities, and experiences (what positive stories can you tell).
- Research before you go - find literature or information online about the organization and its products so you are well informed.
- Create Your Elevator Speech - prepare a 2-5 minute sales pitch about yourself and rehearse with a friend or family.
- Doubt Clearance Session. There was also a doubt clearance session in which experts cleared the doubts of the students
- Discussion on the current requirements of IT Industry and further career opportunities
- Experts’ Talk: Experts interacted with the students and discussed some common questions asked in interviews. They said that preparing for a job interview is a process that begins with knowing yourself and what you can do for the employer. The interviewee must know about the company they are interviewing with like what are the different verticals company is working, the company is product based company or a service based company. Alumni shared their experience with the students. They emphasized each student should spend some time in thinking about their goals, expertise in particular area, strengths and weaknesses. Experts also briefed the students about the importance of resume writing. They also highlighted the job scenario in the market for the IT students in their pursuit for a correct job profile.
The session enabled candidates to have a fair idea about the sort of things they are going to experience at actual interviews, and prepare them how accurately they can deal with it. The session was highly appreciated by the students since the experts came from various domains of the industry, their inputs were very encouraging and motivating for the students.
