PROJECT COMPETITON SPEED 16

An engineering project competition SPEED - 2016 (Student Project Exhibition for Engineering Design) was organised bySchool of Engineering at GD Goenka University on 19th February 2016.
Around 300 - young innovators showcased a total of 100 - projects from 33-universities / institutions from NCR region and beyond. SPEED - 2016 was jointly sponsored by Vijex Group of Companies (India) and Skill Gap Solutions Pvt. Ltd.(Australia, Singapore, India).
Three Final year project groups from ECE department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon were selected to demonstrate their project ideas. They were accompanied by Mrs. Priya Yadav, Assistant Professor, ECE department, DCE.The details of projects are as under:
1. Project title: RF BASED SMART HELMET
Student names : Vijit Mangla and Parshant Sharma
2. Project title: SHOCK GUN
Student names : Arun Kumar and Anirban Maitra
3. Project title: HEATER JACKET
Student names : Prachi Sharma, Vibhuti, Sneh Pawar and Reena Yadav
The ‘Best project award’ was presented to Vijit Mangla and Parshant Sharma from ECE department Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon for their project tilted ‘RF BASED SMART HELMET’.
SPEED - 2016 started with inauguration by Mr. Rajdeep Sahrawat, Head, International Business and Strategic Initiatives, Public Sector, Tata Consultancy Services and Dr. D. K. Jha, Dean, GD Goenka University. In his opening remarks, Mr. Sahrawat illustrated the importance of innovation for a country like India. Participants explained their innovations and details of their projects and demonstrated working prototypes with the help of poster presentations. ExpertsMr. Nischal Kapoor, Vice President IBM Dr. Bhim Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, IITD and Dr. Usha Batra, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science Engineering, GD Goenka University judged various projects exhibited at SPEED - 2016.
SPEED - 2016 ended with a prize distribution function where Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Jha illustrated the spirit of SPEED as being the platform to initiate a dialogue between college students to solve real life problems through engineering innovations. Cash Prizes along with Certificates were awarded to the best projects in various engineering disciplines as well as categories like bestsustainable design, best innovative design, best cost - effective design and best project for a social cause.
Prof. (Dr.) Sudeep Sharma, HoD, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, GD Goenka University presented vote of thanks to each and every contributor for making SPEED - 2016 a great success.
Through this exhibition the students got an opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with the students from other eminent colleges. It was an excellent platform for students to be aware of the level of research and project work that is being done in institutes all over the country having engineering and science background.
