GUEST LECTURE ON "5G MOBILE NETWORK TECHNOLOGY"

A one day guest lecture on "5G Mobile Network Technology" was conducted at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon on 26th February 2016. The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Krishna Kumar Sirohi, founder and President of i2TB (Impact Innovations in Technology and Business) Reasearch Foundation. 56 Students from ECE, CSE, IT, CSE & IT, ECS and EEE department attended the lecture.
The theme and objective of the event was to make the participants aware of the opportunities for jobs in Product development, Research and Innovation of 5G Mobile Network Technology.
Dr. Sirohi started his discussion by briefing about the national agenda of the Government on the following points:
1. 'Make in India'
2. 'Zero Imports by 2020'
3. Product development in India by Indian Companies based on Global Standards.
4. Product development through Collaborative R&D and IPR Sharing / Licensing model.
He highlighted Indian’s current position in the world with respect to Standards Setting, Product Development, Research and Innovation. He discussed about National Capacity Building Deals with legal issues associated with collaborative Product Development & Patents usage. He spoke about his journey from VNL to i2TB and how his research foundation helped in setting standards in recent technological areas i.e. Network Security, Commercial Mobile Networks : 4G & 5G, Special Network for Defense & Public Safety. VNL (Vihaan Network Limited) is India’s first Mobile telecom R&D organization.
He elaborated the background of Cellular Networks and LTE - 4G Technology. He explained the CDMA Mobile Network architecture in which he gave a brief explanation about the BSS (Base Station Subsystem), BSC (Base Station Controller), BTS (Base Transceiver Station) and PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network).
He further detailed the network evolution from 2G to 4G and explained the terms GSM, GPRS, EDGE, FDD / TDD, WCDMA and LTE (Long Term Evolution).
Dr. Krishna Kumar Sirohi shared his experiences of technology development programs in India and how high technology products are developed. He told to the students that product development can be a career option for them.
The lecture was very knowledgeable and helpful to the students. IT gave them an idea about the 5G Mobile Network Technology in India along with its scope and opportunities for the students.
