APPTHON, Amity Youth Fest 2016

APPTHON, a challenge competition, was organized at the Amity Youth fest 2016 from 18th - 20th February 2016. Two students Sushil Sharma (16942) and Uday Kumar (16945) of Computer Science and Information Technology of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the contest.
Students from different Colleges and Universities like IIT Delhi, NIT, NSIT, DTU etc. participated in the event. In final round there were 8 teams including the IIT and NIT students.
APPTHON aimed to find out the best innovative android application. This event checked the student’s creativity, innovative ideas and practical knowledge along with motivating the students to use their theoretical ideas and knowledge for practical applications.
The event was held for three days.
On the first day, participants were required to build a basic design of the application. The design should be based on a unique concept that has some sustainable scope in the market and time limit was of 2 hours.
On the second day the selected designs of the applications were showcased. The application designs were rated by the peers on a confidential basis. The scoring was done for the final design. Selected candidates proceeded to the final round.
On the third day the designed android application were implemented. The final implementation of the design application had to be simple and convenient.
The rules of the competition were as follows:
1. The participants were not allowed to carry any electronics gadgets such as mobile phones, pagers, etc.
2. Students carried their own stationery.
3. The decision of the judges were final and binding upon all participants.
4. The applications were judged on different parameters.
5. The team with the best application was declared as winner.
Sushil Sharma (16942) and Uday Kumar (16945) students of CS&IT, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaonsecured the Third Position in the contest.
