20th Sir C V Raman Memorial Lecture on “Integrated Quantum Photonics”

Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) organized 20th Sir C V Raman Memorial Lectureon “Integrated Quantum Photonics” on 26th February 2016 at Delton Hall, IETE New Delhi. Mr. Ashish Gambhir, Assistant Professor, ECE Department from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the lecture.
The purpose of this lecture was to create awareness and equip the participants with advanced knowledge about the security of data transmission through internet by using the Quantum Technology. 40 participants of different Industry and Colleges participated in this program.
The session was inaugurated by the Chief Guest & Speaker Prof. K. Thyagarajan (Officiating Director, IIT Delhi) by lighting of lamp which also saw the presence of Brig. Lakshman Singh (Vice President, IETE), and Maj. Gen. P. K. Jaggia (Secretary General, IETE).
After the inaugural ceremony, session started with the welcome address. Prof. K. Thyagarajan started the session on“Integrated Quantum Photonics”.During his lecture Prof. Thyagarajan covered the following topics and emphasized its application in current scenario:
1. Quantum Photonics & its application
2. Quantum Cryptography
3. Beam Splitter Experiment
4. Quantum Random Generator & its application
5. Single Photon Source
6. Second Harmonic Generator
7. Integrated optical waveguides & its application in optical fiber communication
8. Entangled Photon
9. Spooky Imaging and
10. New optical chip quantization computer
Finally Prof. Thyagarajan summarized his talk by describing the importance of Quantum Technologies especially for ultra - secure communication and said that the data encrypted by quantum cryptography is completely secure and could not be breached at any stage.
The program ended with the presentation of Memento to Prof. K. Thyagarajan by Brig. Lakshman Singh (Vice President, IETE). Maj. Gen. P. K. Jaggia, VSM (Retd.) (Secretary General, IETE) delivered Vote of Thanks.
