IoT Challenge 2018 Finale
17th - 18th March 2018
Two students Prabhat Singh (18229) and Abhishek Mehra (18195) of VI Sem along with Ms. Parul Bansal (Assistant Professor) from ECE Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the finale of IoT Challenge 2018 organized by i3indya Technologies in association with Radiance-18 at IIT Bombay on 17th - 18th March 2018.
IoT Challenge 2018 is an event based on IoT (Internet of Things). The competition was started in the year 2016 with the aim to provide a platform to students to showcase their projects and idea all over India. The season attracted submissions from more than 1500 colleges all across India.
Prabhat Singh and Abhishek Mehra participated in the finale with their project "IoT Based Connected Streets in Smart Cities" after being the Zonal winners of IoT Challenge at Chandigarh University on 9th - 10th February (Prelims Round) and being among Top 3 Shortlisted Teams after clearing the further short listing rounds of abstract submission and video submission (Round 3).
On 17th March 2018, the students along with the mentor Ms. Parul attended special lectures on Advances in Armament Technology by Prof. K. M. Rajan (Distinguished Scientist & Director, ARDE, DRDO) and Indian Space Program Technology, Trends & Applications by Shri Rakesh Sasibhushan (Chief Managing Director, ANTRIX, ISRO).
On 18th March 2018, the finalists gathered in the auditorium for the project presentation round. A total of 10 minutes were given to each team for presentation and 5 minutes for questionnaire by the jury members. A panel of 2 judges Mr. Jaspreet Singh (Co-founder & Director) and Mr. Deep Hans Arora (Co-founder & Director) from i3indya Technologies judged the various ideas and the results were announced. The project "IoT Based Connected Streets in Smart Cities" was among the top finalists and the team received the hardware kit worth Rs. 1500/-.
The experience of attending the event has been extremely vast. It gave the team an introduction to several advancements in technology and an opportunity to interact with technocrats and innovative students from several walks of industry and academics which will definitely prove to be a milestone in the upcoming technical journey.
