Industrial Visit to Centre For e-Governance

ISTE Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized an industrial visit to Centre For e-Governance, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), New Delhi. on 12th March 2018, 40 students from IT, CSIT & ECS Department along with faculty member Mr. Dharmendra Pal (Associate Professor) visited the industry.
The objective of the industrial visit was to introduce students with various e-Governance projects initiatives taken by Government of India under the collaboration of CDAC, National Informatics Center, Media Lab Asia etc.
Mr. Sunil Kumar, Senior Project Manager, Center for e-Governance discussed with students National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) has been formulated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). The Union Government approved the NeGP, comprising of 27 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs).The NeGP aims at improving delivery of Government services to citizens and businesses with the vision: "Make all Government services accessible to the common man in his locality, through common service delivery outlets and ensure efficiency, transparency & reliability of such services at affordable costs to realize the basic needs of the common man."
Later he discussed various mission mode projects (MMPs), which are implemented by Central Government, State Government and both. The various projects implemented by central Government are Banking, Central Excise & Customs, Income Tax (IT),Insurance, Passport, Pension, etc. Various State level projects are Agriculture, Commercial Taxes, e−District, Land Records(NLRMP), Municipalities, e-Panchayats, Road Transport, PDS, Education and Health. Various projects implemented in collaboration with Central Government and State Government are CSC, e-Biz, e-Courts, e-Procurement and India Portal etc.
Mr. Sunil also discussed the government’s Digital India initiative. eBasta project. The project provides a framework to make the school books accessible in digital form as e-books. The project is conceived to lessen the burden of school books to the student, enable the schools and teachers to overcome the logistics problems of book publishing, transport and delivery, especially on remote locations. He also discussed Online Labs(OLabs) for school lab experiments. The project provides students to perform the experiments with the ease and convenience of conducting experiments and learning activities over the internet. It has been developed to supplement the traditional physical labs and bridge the constraints of time and geographical constraints.
At the end of the session Dr. Debashis Dutta, Director General of C-DAC motivated the students and discussed the technological aspect of the digital India program. He said, students can also participate in digital India program by developing innovative project for the society.
Mr. Sunil Kumar conducted an online quiz at the end of the demonstration the understanding of e-governance projects. Ms. Shreya Kumari received First Prize, Mr. Kashish Goyal received Second Prize and Mr. Devender Kumar received Third Prize in quiz competition.
The visit was informative and useful to the students as they learnt various e-Governance projects developed under Government of India.
