30th July 2015
A Seminar on Engineering Education and Research was organized by National Instruments (NI) on 30th July 2015 at Park Inn, Gurgaon. The program was attended by 40 academicians from various reputed Engineering institutes like NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Delhi and Jamia University. Ms. Sakshi Pahuja, Assistant Professor (ECE department) on behalf ofDronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the event.
The objective of the seminar was to give exposure to the various products launched by NI and very often used in engineering applications.
Mr. Avichal Kulshreshtha, National Instruments welcomed the delegates and gave a brief introduction of National Instruments and focused on the Control Systems. He discussed vital elements of Control System namely measurement and control I/O, math and analysis, user interface, targets, commercial technology and models of computation. He had also introduced a “lab view tool”, which is multipurpose and user friendly interface software.
The program focused on highlighting the advantages of various NI products used with Lab VIEW software. They not only provide a simple, graphical interface for students to build and simulate circuits.
Following is the list of new products launched by NI:
1. LabVIEW and NI Multisim
2. NI ELVIS
3. myDAQ and myRIO
4. CompactDAQ and CompactRIO
5. NI USRP/USRP-RIO
6. NI Modular Instruments Platform
7. NI Virtual Bench
The above mentioned products are useful in research as well as various engineering labs like
1. Signal, Systems &Signal Processing Lab
2. Control Systems Lab
3. Analog/ Digital Circuits Lab
4. Basic Analog & Digital Communications Lab
5. Advanced Wireless Communication Lab
Overall, the Seminar provided great exposure and learning about the use of technology in education and also gave an opportunity to practice on some modules of NI.
